Some people say a week is a long time in football and no more so is that saying true as in the Essex Senior League as title challenger's Walthamstow parted company with their manager Ryan Maxwell in late January who has been replaced by former Hertford Town and St Margaretsbury manager Max Mitchell who has been a player with Spartan South Midlands League side's Tring Athletic and Colney Heath this season. Just Callum Ibe, Dwade James and Vinny Murphy remaining in the starting XI in yesterday's game against Sawbridgeworth Town from their game against Ilford on Wednesday 29th January. Former Hatfield Town manager Jason Beck, Michael Osei (from Witham Town), Michael Noone, Connor Scully and Michael Toner have been recruited along with a trio of players from Tring Athletic in Dan Ferringo, Lewis Todd and Terry Dixon.
The new look Stow side won 4-0 against struggling Sawbridgeworth Town yesterday with goals from Lewis Francis (2), Dwade James and Michael Toner.
Saffron Walden Town are the current table toppers but went down 2-1 at the in form side of the division yesterday. A huge crowd of 268 saw Stansted extend their league winning run to an impressive eleven games.Could The Airportmen be the key to which team eventually finishes top of the table - they have a three game run from Saturday 14th March against Walthamstow, Hashtag United and Hadley so they could well be!
There is HUGE game scheduled this Wednesday evening when Saffron Walden Town visit Hashtag United - the return game is on the final day of the season. Next Saturday sees Walthamstow travel to Hadley for another big game in the race for the title.

Due to the expansion of Step Four in 2020/2021, more sides than usual will promoted Step Five. Every champion will go up which means finishing first will guarantee promotion. In the North West Counties, Northern League and Northern Counties East, the top three sides will be promoted. In the other eleven divisions, the four runners up with the best points per game will be promoted. The other seven runners up will playoff against the seven bottom sides at Step Four to see who will play at Step Four the following season so every point gained from now until the end of the season is majorly important.

Elsewhere in the league Tower Hamlets are carrying out some great work both on and off the pitch in East London. Their Captain Ali Omar, aged 20, completed a more to Championship side Barnsley before the recent transfer deadline day. A name to look out for in the future. Yoan Marc-Oliver has also moved to "KF Istogu" who are currently in fifth place of the second tier of Kosovan football. There are many more young players representing Tower Hamlets who I think will make the move further up the pyramid.
At the bottom end of the division relegation will be decided by ranking the bottom side from each of the fourteen step five divisions on a points per game basis with the two sides with the best PPG being reprieved and the other twelve relegated meaning Sawbridgeworth Town on just five points from their twenty-five league games played are in real danger of dropping down to step six for the 2020/21 campaign.
