Stansted still lead the way in the race for the title in the Essex Senior League but the question maybe how long will they stay there are on the current form of the top six's last eight games played they are bottom with 14 points compared to currently third placed Takeley on 22 points. The Airportmen have two defeats in the last eight league games both at coming at home to Hoddesdon Town and Tower Hamlets.
JUST OVER SIX MILES SEPERATE STANSTED AND TAKELEY - THE VISITORS (DEPENDING ON HULLBRIDGE SPORTS RESULT) COULD MOVE TOP OF THE TABLE WITH A VICTORY.

This makes next weekend's Christmas local derby against Takeley a huge game for both sides. Last season on 23rd December Takeley won 4-1 against Stansted at Station Road in front of 86 people with the game at Hargrave Park played just before this on Tuesday 5th December with Takeley winning 0-3 in front of 92 people.

It could be a different story this season as Stansted struggled last campaign eventually finishing in 18th place of a 21 team division.

Hullbridge Sports are maybe best placed on 46 points with two games in hand over Stansted and one over Takeley. Their next two league games come at home against Southend Manor next weekend and Sawbridgeworth Town in the new year.

Hullbridge Sports are the only side unbeaten at home so far - They have won eight and drawn four of their twelve matches.

Saffron Walden Town are the only side unbeaten on their travels. They have won six and drawn two of their eights games away from Catons Lane.

Catons Lane is the place to be if you like goals - there has been an amazing 62 goals (41 for and 21 against) scored in just thirteen league games played compared to 26 goals in their away games (21 for and 5 against).

Barkingside are the only side without a win and are eight points adrift at the bottom of the table - they host Leyton Athletic in the Errington Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening who are the team about them in the table. They then have an away game at top six side Sporting Bengal United.

Ilford and West Essex are the side with Jekyl and Hyde home and away records. The Foxes have won just four points from a potential thirty on offer compared to twenty-two from thirty-three on their travels with West Essex on four from thirty at home in comparison to twenty-one from thirty-six away from home. Ilford have only scored 6 goals at home but hit the net 27 times away which on goal per game basis is 0.6 gpg at home and 2.25 gpg away.

Leyton Athletic started the season with Jason Ngandu in charge who at the age of 25 was one of the youngest managers in football. He left the club in early October and was replaced by Glen Kendall who then himself parted company with the club in late November. The man in charge now is Eli Benoit who has played for Tilbury, Barking and Waltham Abbey previously.

Max Mitchell took over at manager of St Margaretsbury from John Barker in early October. It's Mitchell's first managerial appointment for a player who represented many local clubs like Enfield Town, Hoddesdon Town, Aveley and Broxbourne Borough to name a few. He is assisted by former Ware, Cheshunt, Thamesmead Town and Brimsdown Rovers boss Tony Faulkner who is most definately passing down valuable experience and knowledge to Max.  The Bury have former Hertford Town and Enfield Town player Phil Lowen in their squad.

The race for the golden boot currently sees Jay Knight of Sporting Bengal United on top with 16 goals closely followed by Dwade James who recently moved from Leyton Athletic to Walthamstow on 15 goals. Callum Ibe of Stansted has 14 goals with Charncey Dash of St Mags on 13 goals.

Stansted have recently added to their fire power with the signing of former Ilford, Basildon United and Barking striker James Peagram. He started the season with Walthamstow before playing one game of Epping Town in the Essex Olympian League Division Four against Lakeside Reserves where he scored a hat-trick. His debut for The Airportmen came on Saturday in their game at Saffron Walden Town which he came off the bench and notched a goal in their 3-5 win in front of a decent 251 crowd.
