Northwood Football Club, who for the 2018/19 season will play in the Bostik League South/Central Division, have appointed Dean Barker as their manager.
Barker spent last season in charge of Wingate and Finchley under 23s and was very successful in winning the Isthmian League Development North Division as well as reaching two cup finals. Previous to his time with The Blues he was in charge of Cockfosters taking them to their highest ever finish in their history when they finished third in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division in 2016/17.
He will be assisted by Frank Piazza (following Barker from W&F), Steve Rolfe (was with Welwyn Garden City who were SSMFL champions last season), Scott Dash (was boss at Leverstock Green last season) , Ben Andreos and Chris Stead (goalkeeping coach). Both Ben and Chris were with Barker during his time at Cockfosters.
Saturday 14th July will be a massive day for the club as Premier League Chelsea have agreed to send a team to play for The Peter Barry Memorial Cup. Tickets are available in advance for this game - Contact the club for more details.
Since relegation for the Southern Premier Division in 2007 the club have played at Step 4 of the non-league ladder swapping across the Isthmian and Southern League divisions finishing 10th, 6th, 10th, 20th, 7th, 13th, 9th, 10th, 7th, 20th and 17th. With Barker and his team in charge I can see The Woods being involved at the top end of the 2018/19 Bostik South/Central Division.
