The first round of the Middlesex Senior Cup has been played with Spelthorne Sports, AFC Hayes, Uxbridge, Ashford Town and Harrow Borough all getting through to join the teams in the second round. Hampton and Richmond Borough won the competition last season beating Wealdstone 1-0 in the final. Ashford Town have a trip to The Hive to look forward to where they will face what will be expected to be a youthful Barnet side.

The Bees lost on penalty kicks to Enfield Town in last season's competition after a thrilling 3-3 draw at The Hive. One of the players who played in this game went on to pick up a Scottish Challenge Cup winner's medal!

Striker Alex Nicholls, who started for Barnet in the game, was subsequently loaned to Dundee United in January 2017 and made a substitute appearance (coming on in the 80th minute for Simon Murray) in the final against St Mirren. He is still on the books at Barnet but has only played once for the first team this season.

COREY WHITELY (NOW PLAYING FOR DAGENHAM AND REDBRIDGE IN THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE) IS SENT OFF PLAYING FOR ENFIELD TOWN IN THE 2016 FINAL AGAINST NORTHWOOD AT UXBRIDGE.
