Former Watford, Stoke City and Burnley striker Gifton Noel-Williams has parted company with Codicote this week after their 0-6 home defeat to Baldock Town. Noel-Williams had only been Manager with The Cod since the summer - their playing record of just one win (against fellow struggler's Hillingdon Borough) in seventeen league and cup games has seen the club make a change. Tomorrow will see Jimmy Martin and Tony Armitage in temporary charge - they entertain Herts Senior County League Premier Division side Ware Sports in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy. The club ask any candidate to contact them if they wish to apply.
They have issued the following statement regarding the departure -
Codicote Football Club regret that they have parted company with Gifton Noel-Williams with immediate effect. Gifton came to the Club and impressed everyone with his coaching ability and the influx of talented young players. But results with this new young squad didn't materialise and in the Club couldn't continue in its current form.
Again Codicote would like to thank Gifton and his family for their commitment, inspiration and dedication to the position and we wish him all the best.
