LEMSFORD v RAYNERS LANE RESERVES
Saturday 4th November 2017
The headline is the quote of the Rayners Lane Reserve's substitute warming up at half-time when his side were 1-4 up. Going into this Herts Senior County League Division One game Rayners Lane had won four, drawn one and lost six of their eleven games compared to Lemsford's record of lost eight and won only two of their ten games. Both teams had suffered a big defeat in one of their last three games - Rayners Lane had lost 1-7 to title challenger's Weston with Lemsford on the wrong end of a 0-9 defeat to Sun Sports Reserves.
The visitors from Middlesex had scored early when their player had pounced on the ball after a mix up between a defender and the home keeper before Lemsford equalised after around 20 minutes. It was then a glorious period of soccer from Rayners Lane as they scored three quick and very well taken goals in the last ten minutes of the first half.
Credit must go to the home side who came back into the game in the second half scoring a decent header but the damage was already done really and the away side held on for a good victory.
Lemsford are at home to Bengeo Trinity in the league next Saturday with Rayners Lane's next fixture also against Bengeo on Saturday 18th November in the Aubery Cup.
