WESTON MAKE IT TWO WINS FROM TWO IN LOCAL DERBY GAME
SOME VIEWS OF THE WESTON RECREATION GROUND TONIGHT INCLUDING THE COVERED AREA - SO IF YOU VISIT AND IT'S RAINING YOU'LL BE OKAY!
"Weston Football Club" have stepped up from the Hitchin Sunday League to the Hertfordshire Senior County League Division One for the 2017/18 campaign and they made it two wins from their opening two matches after a 3-0 victory over "Stevenage Borough Community" on Tuesday evening. SBC had lost 2-5 to Hinton in their opening game with Weston winning 1-0 at home to Sun Sports Reserves thanks to an Anthony James goal.
Weston's home pitch is on the recreation ground in the village which is just North of Stevenage and South of Baldock. Many of their team are former Baldock Town players who would of played for the Baldock Town Reserve team in the same division last season.
Weston went 1-0 up in the third minutes through Alex Duff. They added another on 15 minutes from Anthony James and it was 3-0 on 32 minutes when Robbie Wilcock netted. SBC had a chance to get back into the game when a shot hit the post.
This was the half-time score - I listened to some of the team talk from the SBC management and it went along the lines of not letting the Weston team have too much time on the ball in the midfield areas and to tighten up at the back. They would of been happy with their team's improved second half performance where no more goals were scored at either end.
Stevenage Borough Community have another local derby on Saturday when they host Hatfield Social at King George V playing fields with Weston away in a quick return fixture against Sun Sports Reserves.
In other results in the Herts Senior County League Division One on Tuesday Hinton won 4-3 at home to Kinja and Wodson Park Reserves drew 3-3 at home to Hampstead Heath.
