HERTFORD TOWN PROMOTED

There has been some big news in local football this week as Hertford Town (who finished in second place of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division) have been promoted to the Isthmian League Division One (North) in place of 2016 Champion's London Colney who had originally been promoted.

London Colney had appealed to the Football Association on their placing in D1(N) instead of their preferred option of the Southern League Division One (Central) but this was upheld so they have declined going up a level on the non-league ladder.

Colney's successful manager Joe Sweeney had also left the club a few weeks ago and last season's top scorer Jon Clements (he scored 41 goals) has joined Welwyn Garden City.

After London Colney's AGM on Monday it has been reported four of their main committee members have resigned. The club are now actively looking for people to help them for the new season so if you are able to help please contact the club urgently.

Hertford Town return to the league they left in 2006 when they finished 13th in a Division Two table which included Ware who they will renew their local rivalry with for the 2017/18 campaign.
