THE MOTORMEN'S MARCH TO THE ARCH ENDS AT COLNEY HEATH

COLNEY HEATH LINE-UP BEFORE THE GAME
Essex Senior League Redbridge travelled to Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Colney Heath on Saturday afternoon for a Buildbase FA Vase Second Qualifying Round game. The Motormen went into the game on the back of a brilliant victory at Waltham Forest (who were top of the ESL in the opening weeks) in midweek which was only their second victory in ten league games played. They had also beaten Eton Manor 5-4 in the previous round on Saturday 10th September. The Magpies had won two of their eight league games played and had recently beaten FC Broxbourne Borough in a League Challenge Trophy game.

On a windy day in Hertfordshire it was the home side who went in at half time 1-0 up thanks to a Danielson Vicente well taken goal on 24 minutes - they had also hit the post during the first period. The visitors had worked the ball into some good areas but when it came to a cutting edge and being clinical in front of goal it just wasn't their day. Heath had to replace their goalkeeper Emmanuel Olajide in the opening 10 minutes of the second half - he had picked up a hand injury (reported as a broken thumb) following a great save made from a good Redbridge chance - Bradley Osbourne who was playing at right back took over the gloves. They scored again on 69 minutes to make it 2-0 through Lewis Davis only for The Motormen to pull one back almost immediately though Kieran English to make for a nervy ending but it was the home side who held on and looked the more threatening in front of goal during the last 10 or so minutes.

They have been drawn at home in the First Round Proper where they will play fellow SSMFL Premier Division side Hoddesdon Town in what will be an eagerly anticipated game.
