The travelling fans from Canvey Island went home happy with a point from their first game of the season

The opening day of the Ryman League saw some unexpected results which included the title favourites Havant and Waterlooville lose 3-1 at Leiston and promoted Harlow Town's 1-0 victory over Kingstonian with a last minute winner from Alex Read. All four of the side's promoted from Division One's North and South didn't lose with Worthing, Folkestone Invicta and The Hawks all winning along with AFC Sudbury getting a creditable draw at home to Dulwich Hamlet. Havant's next game is at home to Leatherhead on Tuesday evening who drew 1-1 with Grays Athletic.

TheColdEnd was at Donkey Lane where Enfield Town drew 1-1 with Canvey Island. It wasn't a match to live long in the memory with a point a piece being the fair result in the end. The Islander's took the lead on when O'Rawe scored after a goal-mouth scramble right after Nathan McDonald had saved a penalty kick from George Sykes from a foul judged to have been committed inside the box by the referee. Tyler Campbell saved the day for the Towners with a great finish towards the end of the game. It sets up what should be an amazing game on Tuesday night in front of a bumper crowd when The Towners make the trip from North to South London to face Dulwich Hamlet.

The biggest winners of the day were Staines Town who won 1-6 at the Metropolitan Police and sit on top of the very early table. I don't think many other sides will score six times away from home this season. Will The Swans still be top come the business end of the season?
