Edgware Town are leading the way in the race for the Spartan South Midlands League Division One Championship with just two defeats in twenty four games played closely followed by Crawley Green who have won eighteen of their twenty-two games. Crawley Green lost just their third game on Saturday which was an unexpected 6-0 win for Risborough Rangers - the game's turning point was Crawley being reduced to 10 men on the half-hour and a reportedly hotly disputed penalty kick. This defeat was their second in their last six games with the other being what could be a pivitol 3-1 victory for Edgware Town at Silver Jubilee Park on Saturday 16th January.
Edgware's two defeats have come against Buckingham Athletic (0-1 at home on Saturday 22nd August) and more recently at New Bradwell St Peter (2-1 on Tueday 9th February). The Peters have had a real turn of form since the appointment of Craig Bicknell (ex manager of Leighton Town and Ampthill Town) prior to their game with Brimsdown on Saturday 19th December. They have since played ten games and won eight of them which is in stark contrast to just four wins in their first fourteen games.
With Edgware on a possible points total of 102 and Crawley Green on 104 there is still some twists and turns to come. Their closet challengers are probably Baldock Town who are currently in fourth place on 47 points from twenty-two games played and a possible points total of 95. Baldock are in form having won eight of their last ten league games scoring 28 and letting in just 6 goals.
Third placed Chesham United Reserves can only get to a possible points total of 87 and that's if they win all of their remaining games so they probably have too much to do to get involved in the title race.

SOME RANDOM FACTS FOR THE DIVISION ONE SEASON SO FAR
CRAWLEY GREEN have played ten home games so far and won all of them - Will they still be on a 100% winning record when EDGWARE TOWN visit on Saturday 16th April which is their last scheduled home game of the season?
Both BRIMSDOWN ROVERS and ARLESEY TOWN RES have no home wins - The Limers have many games to catch up playing only seven home matches so far following the problems with Goldsdown Road which saw them move to share at Donkey Lane earlier in the season.
ARLESEY TOWN res are win-less in their last fourteen games - their last victory came back on 3rd November when they won 1-2 at NEW BRADWELL ST PETER.
EDGWARE TOWN are the top scorers in the division scoring 86 times in their twenty-four games played equating to a healthy total of 3.58 goals per game - Crawley have a total of 2.55 goals per game.
