NO WINS TABLE - UPDATE

DIVISION TEAM P/L GF GA NEXT LEAGUE GAME
UNITED COUNTIES DIV ONE STEWARTS & LLOYDS (Corby) 18/181368 IRCHESTER UNITED (H) - 29/11
SUSSEX COUNTY DIVISION TWO SEAFORD TOWN 15/159 47 AFC UCKFIELD (A) - 6/12

In the no win's table it's still Stewarts and Lloyds (Corby) and Seaford Town who remain the only clubs from Step 1 to Step 6 without a solitary point. S&L entertain Irchester United tomorrow whereas Seaford Town don't play until next weekend when they visit AFC Uckfield.

Will the teams get a point or even three points in time for Christmas?

BLUE (AND WHITE) SATURDAY AT DONKEY LANE

Forget all this nonsense of Black Friday with people queueing to have a punch up over a TV or game's console in the middle of the night....Tomorrow it's Blue (and White) Saturday as Enfield Town welcome Harrow Borough for a Middlesex local derby at Donkey Lane.

Dave Anderson's side are in 20th place in the league table just above the relegation zone and have won two of their last six league games.

Bradley Quinton's team are top of the league form table (when was the last time that happened?) over the last six games played winning four and drawing two scoring 12 and letting in 5.

The team's last played on Tuesday 12th August when Harrow won 2-0 with goals from Simeon Akinola and Marc Charles-Smith. Akinola has since moved on to Vanarama Conference Premier side Braintree Town and has been playing regularly for the Essex side including the recent FA Cup First Round Proper game versus Chesterfield.

Harrow have recently signed the prolific striker Greg Ngoyi from St Albans City. He started his career with Edgware Town and has played for Hendon and Wealdstone as well so is well known to local football fans. He scored his first goal for the club in last weekend's 1-3 home defeat versus Dulwich Hamlet.

Incredibly Harrow have been members of the Ryman Premier Division since 1979 /80 but are not the longest serving members of the league as Hendon have been since 1977/78.

A full list of Ryman Premier Division fixtures for tomorrow is below -

ENFIELD TOWN v HARROW BOROUGH

CLUB FOCUS - WANDERERS FC

Not many football fans will know that the famous Wanderers FC were reformed back in 2009. The first Wanderers FC were formed way back in 1859 as Forest Football Club and existed until 1887. The founder of the club Charles Alcock (he founded the club with his brother John Forster Alcock) and secretary AW McKenzie were present at the meeting which established the Football Association in 1863 and the club won the FA Cup an amazing five times before folding in 1887.

In 2009 with the backing of descendants of the Alcock the club were reformed to ensure that the legacy of the original club lives on and to raise money for worthy causes. The legacy of the Alcock brother's lived on in 2010 when on Saturday 7th November JF Alcock's Great-Great-Great Grandson Johannes Gunnell played his first game for the club.

After playing a number of charity matches in 2009 and 2010 the club joined the Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division Four and have since won two promotions. For the 2014/15 campaign the club's first team are in the Junior Division Two alongside teams such as Norbiton Dragons, Wilf Kroucher* and Ewell Conquerors. The club also have a ladies team formed for this season which is great to see.

The club have been playing matches in Belair Park, Dulwich but have recently announced they have secured a ground share with AFC Croydon Athletic. Their first match at Mayfield Park is this Saturday against AFC Ewell which kicks off at 2pm. They then play two more home games prior to Christmas against Norbiton Dragons (13th December) and Trinty Reserves (20th December).

The club's aim is to rise though the leagues and hopefully one day return to the world's greatest cup competition.

You can check out their website here and follow them on twitter here

* The name Wilf Kroucher is shrouded in mystery but apparently comes from some of the members of the team who were on a trip to India and when paying a visit to the very basic toilet had to crouch down or squat. This coined the phrase "going for a Wilf Kroucher" from which the football team was named after.

A FOGGY NIGHT IN HERTFORDSHIRE BUT THE GAME WENT AHEAD

Visibility problems! - but the game went ahead
At half time you could still see the goal posts at the other end of the pitch so the game continued
"Who scored that then?" was the question asked by most of the crowd at Herns Way last night when Welwyn Garden City scored the only goal of the game in the first half against Baldock Town. It was really was a case that nobody knew as the fog that descended on the area had given the fans present some challenging conditions to watch a football match in - as you can see from the above pictures. Some match highlights are also below but the fog effected filming for me so it's only brief I'm afraid. They include a great save from the Baldock keeper which the referee gave a goal kick from when it should of been a corner. His reply to a Citizen's player asking for a corner was "I never saw him touch it!" - for once the man in the middle had an excuse with the fog.

The match saw Welwyn 1-0 up at half time with Baldock battling well in the second half to get back into the game but the home side's defence held firm showing why they have only conceded just 3 goals in 12 league games prior to this match. Baldock themselves are having a very good season and this defeat was only their fith in seventeen league games. It's clear both sides will be up the top of the division fighting for the two promotion places available at the end of the season.

Whilst his team didn't perform as well as they can (could put this down to the conditions?) Welwyn manager Adam Fisher will be pleased to pick up another three points in the race for the Division One title.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

1893 COME BACK TO RECORD MEMORABLE VICTORY AGAINST SOUTHEND MANOR

It's been a fairly chaotic season for Enfield 1893 FC who now play at Harlow Town's ground after they left Goldsdown Road in the summer. They started the season with a new manager in Paul Norris who was assistant to Luke Giddings for the 2013/14 campaign. Giddings had the club due to increased work commitments. Norris left after just two league games which were both home defeats against Stansted (0-3) and Haringey Borough (1-10) with Scott Curley taking over who is assisted by ex Towner Daniel Alleyne. It's Curley's first managerial appointment having played for a host of local non-league side's such as Harlow Town, Aveley, East Thurrock United and Leyton to name a few.

Since Curley took over they have a record of three wins, two draws and nine losses from 14 games played. On Tuesday evening they welcomed Southend Manor to Barrows Farm for a Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy Second Round tie. 1893 included ex Towner's Dave Kendall, Tyler Christian Law (Town reserves) and Jon Stevenson (who was substitute) in their line-up which included just Tom Phillips, Michael Georgiou and Billy Jones who remained from their first starting XI on August 9th.

For a large part of the game last night it was looking like 10 defeats from 15 games played as Southend Manor dominated proceedings with 1893's best chance coming from a Dave Kendall header which was very well saved by the Manor keeper. Manor's young side were 0-2 up and cruising to victory with around twenty minutes to go. The Cold End was very impressed with their manager Wayne Seal who gave his player's constant encouragement from the dug-out throughout the 90 minutes.

It all went downhill for the away side as 1893 came back, showing some tremendous fighting spirit, to record what maybe a season changing victory. Manor who had been passing the ball well and playing with width stretching the home backline went suddenly to putting long balls down the middle which Jon Stevenson, who came on at half time, won nearly everytime. Billy Jones scored two penalty kicks in quick succession and then got a third with substitute Steve Hutchinson scoring a fourth right on full time.

1893 now travel to Clapton in the Third Round of the competition.

GOOD LUCK TONIGHT CONCORD RANGERS

FROM 48 PEOPLE TO THE FA CUP FIRST ROUND

Just seven years ago Concord Rangers were members of the Essex Senior League at Step 5 of the Non-League ladder. On Saturday 24th November they welcomed Barking for a Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy game which they won 6-0 in front of 76 people and on Tuesday 27th November they entertained Waltham Forest in an Essex Senior Cup game which they won 4-3 in front of just 48 people.

Fast forward just seven years and the Essex club have been members of the Conference South Division for the last two seasons. Tonight they play the biggest game in their history when they welcome League Two Mansfield Town to Essex for their all important FA Cup First Qualfiying Replay which will be played in front of a crowd well in excess of a thousand people.

GOOD LUCK TO OUR OLD RIVALS FROM THE ESSEX SENIOR AND RYMAN LEAGUE. THEY ARE A GREAT EXAMPLE TO ALL NON-LEAGUE CLUBS LOOKING TO MOVE UP THE PYRAMID.

BIG HERTFORDSHIRE LOCAL DERBY TOMORROW

Around five miles seperate the villages of Kimpton and Knebworth in Hertfordshire so the Hertsavers County League Division One match between the two sides tomorrow is a real local derby. It's 12th v 8th (only twelve teams in the division) in the table as Kimpton have not had the best of starts to their campaign with just one win in nine league games and conceding 40 goals in the process. The K's have won four of their ten games scoring 23 and letting in 19 goals.

As you can see from the picture The Recreation Ground at Kimpton is one of the most picturesque places to watch football in the local area so it's well worth a visit.

The big kick off is at 2pm!

FA VASE SECOND ROUND PROPER THIS WEEKEND

The FA Vase continues this weekend with nine Spartan South Midlands League sides in action. Just Hullbridge Sports represent the Essex Senior League on the road to Wembley and they entertain AFC Rushden and Diamonds at Lower Road. It'll be a tough game for Sports as Diamonds are top of the United Counites League Premier Division.

The fixtures are below with Ampthill Town entering the competition at this stage as a reward for them reaching the Quarter-Final stage last season. That will seem a long time ago to the fan's of the Bedfordshire side as in May their then manager Craig Bicknell left the club. Ex Peterborough Northern Star coach Derwayne Stupple has been given the job of rebuilding the team after many players also left the club. So far they haven't won a game this season but did earn a well deserved point in a 1-1 draw at home to Harefield United in the league on Tuesday evening. Can they build on this in their game at home to Tring Athletic who won 0-4 at Enfield 1893 in the last round? Tring are in 15th position in the league and only have one win in their last eight Premier Division games. They won 0-2 at Ampthill earlier in the season.

It should be really good game at Bellmount Wood Avenue as current Premier Division table topper's Sun Sports welcome Stanway Rovers who are in fifth place of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

HISTORY - St Mags going for their best Vase performance in nearly thirty years.
A win for St Margarestsbury against Ipswich Wanderers (ninth place in Thurlow Nunn Premier) would see them qualify for the Third Round of the Vase for the first time since 1985/86.

The winner's of the Second Round ties receive £1200 from the Football Association prize fund.
Good Luck to all sides involved.

Saturday
Ampthill Town v Tring Athletic
Deeping Rangers v Oxhey Jets
Hullbridge Sports v Rushden and Diamonds
London Colney v Northampton Spencer
Saffron Walden Town v Kings Langley
St Margaretsbury v Ipswich Wanderers
Sun Sports v Stanway Rovers
Wembley v Brantham Athletic

SAVE HITCHIN - SAVE TOP FIELD!!

The future of Hitchin Town's historic Top Field stadium is in doubt with plans afoot to develop the site into a supermarket. The beautiful game has been played at Top Field since 1871 when the original Hitchin FC drew with Crystal Palace in an FA Cup game with Hitchin Town calling it home since their formation in 1928. The Cold End is fully backing the campaign to save Top Field. As the above picture states this is not just about a football club but the Town in general - This excellent Game Of The People article explains things in a little more detail.

If you're a fan of football in the local area the club need your support on Saturday 6th December 2014 when after the march there is free entry to their game against current Calor Southern League Premier Division table topper's Poole Town.

Check out savehtfc.wordpress.com for more details.

For Leiston it's a really lucky draw as they were the odd ones out and received a bye to the First Round Proper.

Some of the game of note are Premier Division Peacehaven and Telscombe entertaining last season's finalist's Gosport Borough and both Cray Wanderers and AFC Hornchurch having trips to Dorset to play Weymouth and Wimbourne Town respectively. Fans of Tonbridge Angels will also be looking forward to their Kent derby versus Vanarama South side Bromley.

The winners of the Third Qualifying Round ties receive a nice prize of £4,000 from the Football Association fund.

MEMORABLE NIGHT FOR RANGERS AS THEY SHOCK HEATH IN CHALLENGE TROPHY

It was ninth place  in the Premier Division versus second place in Division One in the Spartan South Midlands League Challenge Trophy last night at Colney Heath welcomed Risborough Rangers to The Recreation Ground. The programme welcomed the visitors who were 'from miles away in Buckinghamshire' and it the was handful of loyal fans who made the 33 mile trip from Princes Risborough who left the happier after a entertaining ninety minutes during which both teams played some good football on a decent pitch.

Rangers went into the game in good form as their league position suggests. They had won their last four games with Martin Griggs scoring in each of them. Colney Heath had won 8-0 at bottom of the table Ampthill Town on Saturday so were also in a confident mood.

It was the Division One side's night as Martin Griggs (who has also played for Amersham Town and Tring Athletic) scored another two goals alongside Danny Gray (formerly of Aylesbury United and Tring Athletic) who also scored two. Colney's goals came from Ben Awad and Ben Crilley who wouldn't argue that the away side deserved the victory on the night.

Stewarts and Lloyds (Corby) and Seaford Town are still the only two teams left from the Premier League down to Step 6 on the non-league ladder with a 100% losing record. This weekend they travel up the A43 to play Stamford based Blackstones FC who are currently in 14th place of the 20 team Division One table.

Seaford Town went so close to picking up points last weekend going down 4-3 to table topping Worthing United whose winning goal came in the 94th minute! This Saturday they are at home to Haywards Heath Town who are 10th of 16 teams at present. The club yesterday confirmed Ben Barnett as new first team manager. He has been in caretaker charge since they parted company with former boss Paul Harrison just under a month ago.

Hillingdon FC currently lead the division and are having their best season in men's Saturday football since joining the Middlesex County League in 2007/08. They were formed in 1989 as a youth football club and first fielded a men's Saturday side in the London Commercial League in 2006/07. Since joining the league their record is as follows -

Tooting and Mitcham Wanderers joined the league for this season after a group of disgruntled Tooting and Mitcham United followers formed the club in 2013. They played the 2013/14 season in the Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Division Two moving up the Premier Division of the MCL for the 2014/15 campaign.

Broadfields United were formed in 1993 and have been members of the Middlesex County League since 1995/96. They came 6th in the Premier Division last season and 5th and the season before.

LOCAL DERBY VICTORY FOR THE MIGHTY K'S

On Remembrance Weekend a minute's silence was immaculately observed by both teams.
Knebworth welcomed Hatfield Town Reserves to a very windy and blustery Recreation Ground on Sarturday afternoon for a Hertfordshire Senior County League Division One local derby game. As well as the gusty conditions there was also rain to contend with - which at a pitch with only a small amount of cover didn't make it the best place for the fans and officials present to watch the game. It always seems to rain when The Cold End watches the Mighty K's.

This season Knebworth are under the new management of Ady Bird who joined from Hertford and District League side Bengeo Trinity over the summer. It's been a mixed bag of results so far this season with (prior to kick off) three wins, one draw and five results from nine league games played. Since October (again prior to kick-off) they have improved with three wins from five league and cup games.

GRASS ROOTS!  The game was watched by approximately 10-15 people at various times of the afternoon
Hatfield Town Reserves have only won two of their six league and cup games so far. Going into this game they had lost 10-0 at league leader's Old Parmiterians last weekend so were looking for some improvement.

Knebworth were on top from the kick off and 4-0 up by half time with one goal by Carl Smith (partially captured on camera...sorry Carl!) the stand out. It was a turn and shot from way outside of the box which flew into the net with a little help from the wind.

Hatfield changed their keeper when the score was 6-2. He ended up playing up-front.
Hatfield came back into the game in the second half with two well taken goals but it was the K's who finished better with two goals from substitute Jordan Folorunso to make the final score 6-2.

STEVENAGE THROUGH AGAINST NEEDHAM MARKET - JUST!

The under 18 sides of League Two Stevenage FC and Ryman Division One (North) Needham Market played out a tremendous game at The Lamex Stadium on Thursday evening. The 255 people present witnessed an action packed encounter in the FA Youth Cup First Round Proper that entertained from the very start to the final kick of the game.

Stevenage lined up with a 4-5-1/4-4-2 formation with Jamie Sylvester helped up front by Jack Storer, Nathan Kerr and Ben Kennedy who interchanged from centre midfield to attack at various stages of the game.

Needham played 3-5-1-1 with full backs Deryn Clarke and Ragnar Callan pushing on from defence into the five man midfield. Ace Howell (what a great name!) roamed in between midfield and striker Ryan Rampley.

It couldn't of got any better for the home side in the opening minute of the game as Brandon Carney got in down the left hand side putting in an inviting cross into the middle which Jack Storer accepted heading beyond James Bradbrook in the Needham goal. Boro were on top for the first fifteen minutes or so playing some good passing football with Robbie Sweeney's impressive forward runs standing out.

Needham came back into the game when Taylor Bannister found himself free just outside the box. His shot was well saved by Tyler Reading in the home goal who tipped the ball around the post.

It was 1-1 after eighteen minutes when Adam Mills, who impressed at centre-back for Needham, was fouled inside the box. He got up and converted the resulting spot kick.

Just two minutes later Boro scored again when more good work down the left hand side got the ball in the box allowing Sylvester to finish well to make it 2-1.

Needham's midfielder Bannister looked dangerous whenever he got the ball and he set up Rampley next whose shot never troubled Reading and went over the bar. Every player worked very hard with Sylvester and Needham's Captain Jack Newman having a good battle resulting in a coming together in the forty-second minute. They went forehead to forehead and some verbals were exchanged which was quickly sorted out by the referee.

Stevenage's right back George Casey made several impressive attacking forward runs towards the end of the half which caused some panic in the Needham box.

At half time it was 2-1 with Stevenage looking comfortable at the back aside from one or two chances Needham had. They deserved their lead but you always thought Needham were still in the game. Boro's powerfully built and strong left footed central defender Norley Botaka was controlling things at the back well.

It was 3-1 just after the break when a mix-up at the back allowed Brandon Carney to score. Casey continued making forward runs from right-back which set up several scoring chances.

The game changed for Needham in the fifty-fourth minute when Ryan Rampley was replaced by Bill Holland who looked a more physical and powerful attacker. Holland mixed things up and it was he who set up Mills for his second goal after a corner was floated over causing some panic in the Stevenage box.

Stevenage's back line which had looked strong, composed and sturdy up to this point were visibly rattled and looked all over the place for a number of minutes as the pace of Howell and Bannister along with the strength of Holland caused them all sorts of problems. On 67 minutes it was 3-3 when Holland pounced on a misplaced pass to give the ball to Bannister who looped a shot past Reading to the delight of his team mates and the Needham people in the crowd.

Needham pressed for a fourth goal but the game settled down and it looked like it was going to extra-time until Boro's pacey substitute Louis Yamfam got in down the left hand side to cross to Carney to head home to send the home team, bench and supporter's delirious. It was very tough on the Needham youngsters who had done so well to come back into the game. They can return to Suffolk with their heads held high as they ran Stevenage very close and deserved the game to go to an extra 30 minutes.

Stevenage u18s play Wealdstone u18s in the next round. The two clubs have some close links over the past six months with Tom Pett and Jerome Okimo joining Graham Westley's side from The Stones in the summer. Another Boro signing from non-league in forward Connor Calcutt has recently signed on loan for Wealdstone in order to get some first team football experience in the Conference South division. He joined after scoring many goals for Berkhamsted in Spartan South Midlands Premier Division last season.

As well as playing in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League many of the team have played in the Thurlow Nunn Division One for Needham Market's Reserve side so it looks as though the furture is bright for the Suffolk side. To get to this stage of the competition they had beaten Lowestoft Town (6-0), Woodbridge Town (3-0) and Great Yarmouth Town (3-0).

Stevenage U18s compete in the Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference. They next play Cambridge United on Saturday morning.

The Cold End last saw Stevenage u18s in the FA Youth Cup on Thursday 13th December 2007 when they played Chelsea. The visitors won 0-1 thanks to a goal from substitute Adam Phillp in front of 641 people.

The Boro team that day included goalkeeper Christopher Adams (went on to play for Bracknell Town), Ashley Grinham (played for Hitchin Town, Royston Town and now at Barton Rovers), Liam McDevitt (another to go on and play for Hitchin Town, Royston Town and Barton Rovers), Zak Burke (played in Stevenage's first team a few times before joining Hitchin Town. He spent time on loan at Forest Green Rovers in 2012), Kerran Birch (Biggleswade United, Dunstable Town, AFC Dunstable and Bedford Town), Ray Antcliff (Codicote), George Brinkman (Hitchin Town, Stotfold, Royston Town, Barton Rovers and Dunstable Town) and Jorden Gibson (Royston Town and Hoddesdon Town).

Chelsea's team included Rhys Taylor (Wales u17, u19 and u21 international who went on to play for Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United on loan before joining Southend United, Preston North End and Macclesfield Town where he is currently playing), Jacob Mellis (currently with Blackpool after joining Barnsley in 2012 - made one appearance in the Champions League for Chelsea as a substitute in injury time), Jeffrey Bruma (now a Dutch International with PSV whom he joined in 2013 after loan spells with Leicester City and Hamburger SV. As part of the deal to PSV Chelsea have a buy-back option), Patrick Van Aanholt (joined Sunderland in the summer for £1.5 million), Ben Gordon (currently with Colchester United after playing with Ross County and Yeovil Town along with several clubs on loan), Michael Woods (joined Yeovil Town in 2012 then moved to Doncaster Rovers and dropped down into the non-league game with Harrogate Town before moving back up into the football league with Hartlepool United in 2014), Frank Nouble (currently with Coventry City after spells with Ipswich Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United), Lee Sawyer (currently with Conference South side Chelmsford City. Has also played for Sutton United, Woking, Southend United and Barnet amongst others), Sergio Tejera (currently with Spanish side Alavea after joining Mallorca in 2009), Gael Kakuta (still with Chelsea but has been loaned to Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon, Vitesse, Lazio and currently Rayo Vallecano in Spain), Miroslave Stoch (currently with UAE side Al Ain on loan from Turkish side Fernabahce..has played 45 times for the Slovakian national team), Tom Taiwo (now with Scottish Championship side Falkirk after joining Carlise United on 2010 and Hibernian in 2012), Nikki Ahamed (played for Wealdstone and was last with Portugesse lower league team CD Mafra), Niclas Heimann (goalkeeper who currently plays for Rot-Weiss Essen in the German Regionalliga West), Adam Phillip (now with Notts County who he joined in 2013) and Jack Saville (currently with Barnet after leaving Chelsea in 2012).

Taiwo and Woods joined Chelsea in 2006 in a transfer which received lots of national coverage which saw the West London side pay Leeds United a fee of £5,000,000. Who would of thought back then they would be playing for Falkirk and Hartlepool United in 2014?

As you can see the FA Youth Cup is an excellent and cheap way of seeing some of the stars of the future. The remaining First Round games take place next week including Hertfordshire's Leverstock Green making a trip to Roots Hall to play Southend United next Monday and Thamesmead Town taking the short journey to Dartford next Wednesday.

Non-League sides definitely through to the Second Round Proper are AFC Fylde, Kidderminster Harriers, Barnet, Maidenhead United, Torquay United, Wealdstone, Royston Town and Welling United along with the winners of the Dartford v Thamesmead Town game and possibly Leverstock Green.

WHICH IS THE STRONGEST STEP THREE LEAGUE?

The Cold End originally wrote this article in June 2011 about which Step 3 division (Step 2 prior to the creation of the Conference North and South divisions) league is the strongest. It analysed The Isthmian League Premier Division, The Southern League Premier Division and Northern Premier League Premier Division with details of the teams who were promoted and their subsequent performance. It all starts at the 1986/87 season when automatic promotion to the Football League from the Conference was introduced.

2003/04 - No team promoted in place of Hucknall Town

Number of clubs who went into the football league since 1986/87
ISTHMIAN LEAGUE - SIX
NORTHERN LEAGUE - FIVE
SOUTHERN LEAGUE - FOUR

As you can see since the creation of the Conference South and North divisions which changed the leagues from step 2 to step 3 on the non-league ladder only AFC Wimbledon and Fleetwood Town have moved up to the football league. Gateshead went very close last season losing the Conference play-off final and are in second place this campaign.

Since the creation of the new Step two (Conference North and South) a total of sixteen promoted clubs have moved up to the Conference Premier from the three leagues in question.

Fleetwood Town are the highest placed club presently in tenth place of League One. The only other clubs at this level are Yeovil Town (who spent last season in The Championship) and Crawley Town. The Glovers are down in 23rd place and will need to start picking up points to prevent two relegations in as many seasons. Crawley Town are in fifteenth place but only five points above Yeovil so it's a very close division. Two or three wins in a row could make all the difference.

Burton Albion, Morecambe, Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Dagenham & Redbridge, Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage FC and AFC Wimbledon are all in League Two.

Macclesfield Town and Aldershot Town were relegated in 2012 and 2013 resepectively. They now play in the Conference Premier. Boston United are currently in the Conference North after relegation from the football league in 2007 with AFC Rushden and Diamonds formed after the demise of Rushden and Diamonds top of the United Counties League Premier Division.

A QUICK WORD WITH.....DAVE ROBERTS

Edmonton Rangers formed an adult's Saturday team in time for the start of the 2013/14 campaign and joined the Middlesex County League Division One (Central and East) where their debut season was a little bit of a struggle/learning curve winning just three of their twenty-two league games played. This season in Division Two they have faired  a little better winning three of their seven league games played so far including an 11-2 victory last Saturday. Their first team manager is Dave Roberts who was named Coach of the Year by the Middlesex County in recognition of his efforts towards youth coaching and youth football. The Cold End had a quick word with Dave to get some background information on him and see how the season is going so far..

Your age and footballing history? How did you come about managing Edmonton Rangers?
I am 55 years old and have managed the first team since it was formed in January 2013. I am a Level 2 qualified coach along with youth models 1 and 2. I did play the game in the North of England many years ago but now concentrate on coaching. I also coach the Edmonton Rangers Youth Hawks on a Sunday morning. I formed the club along with Darren Gosnell (who is now Director of Football) and agreed to take charge of the team. I managed Hertford Town Reserves three years ago and also helped out with their first team.

How is the season going for Edmonton Rangers?

The season is going very well at the moment. We have a good young side with an average age of around 23 years old

Best opponents since joining the league?

FFC Haringey. We lost 14-0 to them in our debut season.

Best and worst results since joining the league?  See above for the worst result. The best would be our recent victory over Eagles United 11-2.

Edmonton Ranger's style of play?
We like to play a passing style moving the ball from front to back quickly.

Any stand out players who may have a future playing higher up the pyramid?
Kweku Ghansah [know to all has Etoo]. He played for me at Hertford town in their first team and scored. He can play any position even goalkeeper, he is the league top scorer so far, then there is Simon and Sampson Ibekwe who both play centre half and are learning the game well improving all the time as all the current squad.
* cold end note - Ghansah has a current record of 12 goals in 7 games played

What things would you change to improve grass roots football?
We need cheaper training venues and better quality pitches - not ones covered with dog mess that you have to clear up before you can play your game.

Which Premier League manager would your players liken you to? Are you a Tea-Cup thrower or calm masterful tactician?
My fellow coaches liken my style to that of Jose Mourinho

Edmonton Rangers play their games at The Tottenhall Recreation Ground just off of the A406 and A10 which is the former home of Southgate Athletic. A list of their forthcoming fixtures is below with a local derby game in December against Tottenham based Hale Rangers a game to look forward to for both sides. The club have an excellent website which you can find here

It's great to see the Edmonton area represented in Saturday football. The area was previously represented by Edmonton FC in the 1960s and 1970s who later went on to become Haringey Borough.

The club also have an U21/reserve side formed this season who play in the Middlesex County League Combination Division. They are currently joint top of their division along with Best 72 and Speedy United.

Forthcoming Fixtures for Edmonton Rangers
Saturday 8th November - FC North West London - Division Two & Combination Cup @ Mill Hill Park
Saturday 15th November - AMU - Division Two
Saturday 22nd November - LANCASTER - Division Two
Saturday 29th November - New Hanford Reserves - Middlex Junior Trophy Quarter Final @ unknown
Saturday 20th December - Hale Rangers  - Division Two @ Frederick Knight Sports Ground

Good Luck to Dave and all at Edmonton Rangers for the rest of the season.

Dereham Town's reward for their 1-0 victory over Enfield Town is a home tie against last season's FA Vase winner's Sholing. They are currently in 18th place of the Southern League Division One South and West after winning promotion last season. Division One (North) Barkingside had a great victory over Premier Division Kingstonian in the last round and now host Division One (South) Horsham in the Second Qualifying Round who beat Ware 1-0 on Saturday.

Two clubs from the South-West of England face lenghty trips to Ryman League clubs with Paulton Rovers travelling to Lesiton (480 mile round trip) and Truro City going to Witham Town (780 mile round trip).

In total there are twelve Premier Division, Six Division One (North) and Six Division One (South) sides left on the FA Trophy road to Wembley.

NIL POINTS LEAGUE - UPDATE

DIVISION TEAM P/L GF GA NEXT LEAGUE GAME

SUSSEX COUNTY DIVISION TWO SEAFORD TOWN 12/126 40 WORTHING UNITED (AWAY) 8/11

Stewarts and Lloyds along with Seaford Town are still on NIL points after two more defeats over the weekend. For Seaford Town it doesn't get any harder than their match at the weekend away to league leader's Worthing United who have nine wins and two defeats in eleven games. S&L go to fourth placed Northampton ON Chenecks who are on a seven match unbeaten run in league games so it will be very difficult for them too.

The best of luck to both teams this weekend.

In the race for the Essex Senior League golden boot it's ex Enfield Town player Walid Matata (Haringey Borough) and Sawbridgeworth Town's Gavin Cockman leading the way on sixteen goals in the league matches they have played. Matata's total includes the seven goals he scored in the one match against Enfield 1893 FC. Cockman has played for Enfield 1893 FC, Takleley previously and scored a good amount of goals for Bishops Stortford Swifts in the Essex Olympian League in 2012 and 2013.

Ex Hadley, Broxbourne Borough and Hoddesdon Town player Tony Cookey is having a great season for his current club London Bari. He is on eleven goals along with Darrell Cox of Haringey Borough (ex of Cheshunt and Chesham United) and Ilie Vasili of FC Romania.

Billericay Town manager Craig Edwards has recently signed Liam Nash from Hullbridge Sports after the 18 year old striker scored 19 goals in 28 games in the 2013/14 season and 9 goals already this season. Nash is a really exciting prospect and has signed on contract with The New Lodge side. Nash made a scoring debut for his new club in coming off the bench in the Ryman League Cup 8-2 victory over Great Wakering Rovers on Monday 6th October.

Nash is joined on nine goals along with Farhad Nyanja of Clapton and David Ratcliffe of Stansted. Nynaja is known as 'Ninja' and has also played for London APSA in the Essex Senior League. The Clapton Ultras song goes 'We'd rather have a ninja than Neymar'.

Tashan Bradshaw-Brown signed for FC Romania earlier in the season and has played for Hanwell Town and Haringey Borough in the past - He came through the youth system at Wingate and Finchley where he also played for the first team. He has scored seven goals already for the Theobalds Lane side.

Barking's George Shelvey, currently on six goals, is the older brother of Swansea City's Jonjo.
