RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION UPDATE

GOALS SCORED IN LAST SIX LEAGUE GAMES

The above chart demonstrates the simple fact that goals win games as the current top scorers in the league are Margate (2nd) and Maidstone United (1st) with Bury Town (20th) and AFC Hornchurch (24th) the lowest ranked.

Goals have been in very short supply for Bury Town this season - they have only hit the back of the net three times in nine games and have failed to score in five of those (55.55%). Away from home they haven't registered a goal yet in five games. They host Leatherhead at Ram Meadow on Tuesday night who have scored five times in their three away league games so far.

AFC Hornchurch who done so well last season getting to the play-off final have made a disastrous start to their campaign. They have the same problem as Bury Town scoring only three goals in nine games. Due to floodlight works at Bridge Avenue their first seven games were away from home with their "home" fixture against Maidstone United last Tuesday being played at Aveley's ground. Their first proper home game was at the weekend when Margate visited and won 0-2. They travel to fellow struggler's VCD Athletic (23rd v 24th) this Tuesday evening. The Urchins have failed to score in their last four league games and are the only side without a win!

Hornchurch's start to their season is indicated in their odds (see below table of odds with bet365.com) dropping from 16/1 in July to currently 500/1. Margate's odds have been trimmed from 11/8 to 4/9 with Maidstone United reduced from 10/1 to 7/2.

Could one of the title favourites draw on Tuesday or even lose their unbeaten record at home?
