LONDON COLNEY CLAIM LOCAL BRAGGING RIGHTS

Around three miles separate the grounds of Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side's London Colney and Colney Heath so it was a real local derby on Saturday when LCFC made the short journey from Cotlandswick to The Recreation Ground.

Going into the game Colney Heath were on a long unbeaten league run of fourteen games with London Colney also on a good run of form losing just three (against Hanwell Town currently in third place and favourites for the title along with Berkhamsted twice who are currently in second place) in thirteen games since the beginning of October.

ABOVE - JIMMY HILL SCORES THE FIRST GOAL FOR LONDON COLNEY
The game was a tight one with defences on top in the first half and watching I thought either a mistake or a moment of magic would break the deadlock. Step forward London Colney's Jimmy Hill (@DangerjimHill) who unleashed an amazing dipping shot from outside of the box that the Heath keeper could do nothing with. London Colney played some good football and deserved their victory which was sealed with a second goal late in the game which was watched by a bumper festive crowd of 162 people. Those that made the short trip back along the A414 left the much happier taking with them the local bragging rights after ending their rival's amazing unbeaten run. It was also the first time this season Colney Heath have failed to score in a league game.
