ENFIELD TOWN - THE BATTLE TO AVOID THE BIG DROP

The below table indicates how tough it's going to be for Enfield Town to climb out of the relegation zone as 20013 turns into 2014. The results of the scheduled games in January are pivotal as to if the Town will stay at Step 3 of the non-league ladder for the 2014/15 season. With George Borg bringing in a number of new players since taking over in early December I am still ultra-confident the team will stay up.

The Cold End has often looked at other team's scheduled games but for the all important forthcoming month of January we'll (for the time being) look at Enfield Town's only -

WEDNESDAY 1st JANUARY - HENDON V ENFIELD TOWN
SATURDAY 4th JANUARY - ENFIELD TOWN V GRAYS ATHLETIC
TUESDAY 7th JANUARY - ENFIELD TOWN V HARROW BOROUGH
SATURDAY 11th JANUARY - ENFIELD TOWN V CRAY WANDERERS
SATURDAY 18th JANUARY - EAST THURROCK UNITED V ENFIELD TOWN
TUESDAY 21st JANUARY - AFC HORNCHURCH V ENFIELD TOWN
SATURDAY 25th JANUARY - ENFIELD TOWN V CANVEY ISLAND

That's a total of 21 points on offer in January and with four home games it's clear, as stated, the results are pivotal. New Year's Day see The Town make the short journey to Earlsmead to play our local rival's Hendon - the match kicks off at 3pm. The Greens are currently in tenth place having won 10, drawn 3 and lost 10 of their 23 league matches so far. They have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 games and will include ex Towner Adam Wallace in their line-up. After making 3 appearances from the sub's bench he made his first start for his new team in Saturday's 3-1 home defeat of Leiston which was Manager Gary McCann's 200th victory since he took charge in February 2005.

I, as an Enfield Town supporter, hope the Town will be celebrating their first league win since Saturday 31st August 2013 on the first day of 2014?
