BIG NORTH LONDON DERBY THIS TUESDAY NIGHT

Just eight miles separate the home grounds of Wingate & Finchley and Enfield Town with The Blues making the short trip around the A406 and up the A10 on Tuesday night for an all important local derby game. Over the past few seasons both clubs have formed a healthy but friendly rivalry so the midweek game is highly anticipated by both sets of players and fans respectively.

Town got the upper hand (just!) in both league games last season winning 2-1 at Donkey Lane on Tuesday 21st August -  

and 1-2 at The Harry Abrahams Stadium on Tuesday 26th February -


Wingate have hit a good run of form of late winning their last three league games against Harrow Borough, Bognor Regis Town and East Thurrock United. They also came very close to knocking Daventry Town out of the FA Trophy on Saturday 2nd November before losing the replay 3-1. Their victory over East Thurrock United on Saturday was a very eventful game. Leon Smith had made it 3-2 on 87 minutes before Kurt Smith equalised on 88 minutes for the away side. The Blues weren't finished though and gained a very valuable three points with Leon Smith scoring again on 90 minutes to make the final score 4-3.  Ex Towner Mark Henry started the game The Blues with another in David Laird on the bench. Both players crossed the divide last season to join Town but have since re-joined W&F which will add some extra spice to the atmosphere on Tuesday night along with ex Wingate player Joe O'Brien in the Towner ranks. ALL ROADS LEAD TO DONKEY LANE ON TUESDAY NIGHT.
