WOODFORD UNITED STILL SEARCHING FOR A LEAGUE WIN

Saturday 7th April 2012 is a special date for the fans and those associated with United Counties League Division One side Woodford United. For on this day the 2-1 victory recorded over Chertsey Town in a Southern League Division One (Central) game was the last time they won!. Woodford United were relegated from the Southern League Division One (Central) at the end of the 2012/2013 season and took the decision to drop down to the United Counties League Division One and not the Premier Division. This was due to their manager, Mark O'Callaghan, stepping down for health reasons. Their website states 'we are a young team, with the emphasis on player's developing' which is always good to read.

SIXTY-SECOND TIME LUCKY??

 

So it's currently a sixty game losing streak but could it be on Saturday 2nd November when they gain that elusive win or even get a draw which will clearly be greeted like a cup final win by everyone at Byfield Road? They travel to Blackstones who are play at Lincoln Road in Stamfford, Lincolnshire. They are second bottom of the table and have one win, one draw and ten defeats in their twelve league games so far. The win came at home to Wellingborough Whitworth (5-3) and the draw an amazing 5-5 away at Bourne Town. The Stones have also lost in the FA Vase (0-2 to Boston Town),  FA Cup (6-3 to Godmanchester Rovers), Knockout cup (4-1 to AFC Kempston Rovers) and in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup (2-1 to Holbeach United). Prior to this game United entertain Rothwell Corinthians this Saturday afternoon whom beat them 4-1 on the 21st September.
