DOUGHERTY NETS CONTROVERSIAL LATE WINNER AT FORMER CLUB

CODICOTE WIN THROUGH IN CHALLENGE TROPHY

Just a few miles separate the town of Baldock and the village of Codicote in Hertfordshire with the Division One rivals meeting in the Spartan South Midlands League Challenge Trophy on Wednesday night at Top Field in front of a decent crowd of 65 people . Baldock Town currently share at Hitchin Town's ground as the caged 3G pitch at Norton Way wasn't acceptable for promotion from the Hertfordshire Senior County League.

Both teams played some really decent football with Baldock very unlucky only to go in at half time at 1-1 as they had a number of good chances to score more goals.

The match will be remembered for one incident right at the end of extra time with the game drifting towards penalties at 2-2. Codicote substitute and ex Baldock player scored with a controversial late winner. Was it ball to hand, hand to ball or a knee that put the ball in the net? watch the replay from 8mins 29secs to find out below and make your own decision??

When the two sides meet again in the SSMFL Division One on Friday 29th November at the Gosling Stadium I'm sure Baldock will be wanting to gain some friendly revenge.

Baldock had made it 2-1 with a penalty kick from 7m 5secs but did The Cod Army have a penalty shout from 4m 30secs when Leeroy Willliams was tackled in the area?

Match Highlights including all five goals scored
