The draw for the third qualifying round of the FA Cup (with Budweiser) has been made today with a total of fifteen Ryman League sides definitely through. Three clubs face midweek replays including Division One (North) Witham Town who gained a very impressive draw at Calor Premier League pace setter's Hemel Hempstead Town. These clubs are now only 180 minutes away from the dream of the First Round Proper and a potential game against Football League opposition.
THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND DRAW
involving Ryman sides in CAPS
AFC HORNCHURCH v WEALDSTONE
Biggleswade Town v LEATHERHEAD
Bromley v HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS
CANVEY ISLAND/St Neots Town v FC Clacton/North Greenford United
CHIPSTEAD v Bishops Stortford
Cirencester Town v Weymouth/BOGNOR REGIS TOWN
GRAYS ATHLETIC v Daventry Town
HAMPTON AND RICHMOND v Arlesey Town
Hemel Hempstead Town/WITHAM TOWN v DULWICH HAMLET
HORSHAM v CHATHAM TOWN
LEWES v Sutton United
MAIDSTONE UNITED v Barton Rovers/Boreham Wood
NEEDHAM MARKET v AFC SUDBURY
Staines Town v SITTINGBOURNE
As you can see at least three Ryman sides will make it through to the fourth qualifying round as Premier Division heavy hitter's AFC Hornchurch play Wealdstone, a Suffolk derby occurs when Needham Market face AFC Sudbury and it's South v North as Horsham face Chatham Town.
Division One North and South teams have already pocketed a healthy amount of £9,425 in prize money after getting through from the Preliminary Round with Premier Division sides on £7,500 having entered at the First Qualifying Round stage.
The amount on offer for a win in the Third Qualifying Round is a further £7,500 meaning clubs could earn £15,000 or £16,925 if they get through. Although far away from the millions of the Premier League this sort of figure can really make the difference at non-league level.
Good Luck to all the teams involved. It would be great to see a side representing the Ryman League in the First Round Proper.
