SQUAD TAKING SHAPE AT THE DRIPPING PAN
Right midfielder Nicky Wheeler has signed for Lewes as Garry Wilson builds his squad ready for the 2013/14 campaign. He has played for Charlton Athletic, Whitehawk and Burgess Hill Town in the past. Last season's second highest scorer Ben Godfrey has committed along with striker Sam Crabb whom has following Wilson from Eastbourne Town. He has previously played for Lewes in 2009. Ex Brighton & HA youth team central midfielder Tom Vickers has also signed (from Hastings United). Ross Treleaven has also signed, the wing man has played for Crowborough, Worthing, Eastbourne's Borough & Town and Tonbridge Angels. Also signed are -
Nathan Crabb - who played at The Pan last season and was a real fan's favourite.
Ben Austin - another player to come from Eastbourne Town
Fraser Logan - left sided midfielder who was captain of Crawley Down Gatwick last season.
Sam Gore - Left sided defender who was Ramsgate's player of the season last year. Also played for Gillingham, Dover Athletic and started his career as a youth team player at Chelsea.
Rikki Banks - Goalkeeper signed from Wealdstone. Starting his third spell with the club.
Joe Shelley - Captained Sussex County League side East Preston last season as well as scoring over 30 goals from midfield.
Daniel Smith - Another player from Eastbourne Town.
Ade Olorunda - Scored twice for Maidstone United in the Division One (South) play off final last season. Strong, Powerful and speedy striker who has also won play-offs with Hastings United and Tongbridge Angels in the past.
With all these impressive signings it's clear that The Rooks will be looking to finish much higher than the nineteenth place they ended in last season.
TRAYNOR BACK FOR KINGSTONIAN
Kingstonian have arguably made the signing of the summer so far by announcing that striker Bobby Traynor will play for the 2013/14 season.Traynor, who took a break from the game last year, has played 255 times for The K's and scored 154 times. He has also won the Ryman League golden boot on three occasions. Ryman defences beware!
Defender Sam Page has joined from Staines Town. The 25 year old won the Ryman League when captain of Sutton United in 2011 and has also played for Havant & Waterlooville and Horsham.
Leaving Kingsmeadow are Tom Bird and Szymon Sidorowicz who have joined Conference South side Hayes and Yeading United. Lewis Taylor has moved to Whitehawk and Paul Vines has joined Dulwich Hamlet.
HAYRETTIN QUITS GRAYS ATHLETIC FOR ASSISTANT MANAGER'S JOB AT LUTON TOWN
Great news for football but not so much good news for Grays Athletic this week as their manager Hakan Hayrettin has left to join John Still's Luton Town as Assistant Manger. I say it's great news for football at Ryman level as a manager who has proved himself managing Waltham Forest, Thurrock and Grays Athletic has now got the chance to move to the top division of the non-league game where The Hatters are strong favourites for the Conference title this season.
Ryan Kirby, who was Hayrettin's assistant, is expected to take over as manager as soon as possible. Kirby has been player-boss at Harlow Town previously and is ultra experienced at all levels of the game.
WHITNELL RETURNS TO CRAY
Striker Tommy Whitnell has returned back to Cray Wanderers following a season with Margate in 2012/13 where he scored 11 times in 41 appearances.
DANNY LAWS MAKING SOME IMPRESSIVE SIGNINGS AT LEISTON
Goal-scoring midfielder Craig Parker has signed for Leiston as he joins up with his former Needham Marker manager Danny Laws. The 26 year old had many offers after he left Conference South side Chelmsford City but has chosen to work with Laws once again. He also spent sometime on loan at Bury Town last season.
Defender Adam Tann has also joined from Chelmsford City. He was also on loan at Bury Town last season. He has over 200 football league appearances to his name during spells with Leyton Orient, Cambridge United and Notts County. Another defender in Elliott Hunter has joined from Bury Town along with striker Joe Francis from Lowestoft Town.
Striker Ryan Crisp, who trialled with several football league sides last season when his impressive performances for Thurlow Nunn league side Kirkley and Pakefield drew a number of high profile clubs to take a look at him. The 19 year old looks to have a real future in the game at a higher level.
Another promising young striker Elliott Crowe has also been snapped up from Needham Market.
Several players have left including Michael Brothers (to AFC Sudbury), Seb Dunbar (to Bury Town) and Emmanuel Osei (to Metropolitan Police). Striker Nathan Stone has also left to join Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Gorleston.
Off the pitch David Bugg has joined from Needham Market (where he was Chairman) to act as Director of Football at Victory Road. He will be familiar working with Laws who was, of course, manager at Needham Market.
STONES SIGN MARTIN
Wealdstone have signed 24 year old 6foot+ midfielder Adam Martin from Slough Town. Martin can play in an attacking or holding roll and has a wealth of experience playing for The Rebels, Hemel Hempstead Town, Berkhamsted Town, St Albans City and Irish side Bohemians where he scored in a Europa League game against Icelandic side Thor. He began his career as a youth team player with Watford.
HEALE BUILDING HIS SQUAD AT CANVEY ISLAND - LUCKY CHARM BRIGHTLY JOINS
New Canvey boss Danny Heale has made a number of signings as The Gulls look to finish higher up the league than the eighth place they ended in 2012/13. Central defender Rob Bartley and Striker Simon Thomas have joined from Chesham United who made the play-off semi-final in the Southern League Premier Division last season. 21 year old defender/midfielder Sheldon Sellears has moved from Division One (North) side Aveley along with striker Spencer Bellotti from Wingate and Finchley.
Thomas really made a name for himself in a two year stint with Boreham Wood and joined Crystal Palace in 2008 where he spent time on loan with Grays Athletic, Rotherham United, Darlington and Ebbsfleet United. He scored 43 times in 92 appearances in his time at United so will be right up near the top of the Ryman Premier scoring charts should he continue that form. Goalkeeper Dale Brightly has also joined making the short journey from Concord Rangers. He is somewhat of a lucky charm as he has won promotion from the Ryman Premier twice in the last two years going up with Concord (2012) and with Billericay Town (2011).
Canvey have been boosted by last season's top scorer Bradley Woods-Garness also committing for the forthcoming campaign. They Islanders will certainly score a few goals this season!
Meanwhile, The Gulls have lost the services of right back Ashley Miller who was player's player and manager's player of the year last season. Miller, who has also played for Concord Rangers, has moved up to the Conference South to play for Bishops Stortford.
