betway.com have offered early odds for the Ryman Premier Division with Enfield Town offered at 40/1. Early favourites are Lowestoft Town and Thamesmead Town both at 15/2 followed by Margate at 8/1.
Why Division One (North) play-off winner's The Mead are rated so highly is a mystery to most people but as the saying goes the bookies know best so do they know something we don't?
The Mead have made some good signings in experienced striker Jon Main and Theo Fairweather Johnson who returns to Bayliss Avenue after winning the Conference South title with Welling United last season but 15/2 seems a little bit optimistic in my book. Most fans would put many other teams ahead of them in the betting.
Best value for an outside bet for TheColdEnd would be Kingstonian (who have welcomed back goal machine Bobby Traynor)and East Thurrock United (who had the 2nd best league record in the last twenty games of 2012/13). They are both rated at 22/1. The Cold End also rates Leiston much skinnier than 33/1 as manager Danny Laws has made a number of decent signings to improve the squad at Victory Road. TheColdEnd would put them closer to 12/1 or 15/1 so 33's is good value in my book.
