LOWFIELD BEATS THE FREEZING CONDITIONS

This was the scene at Hoddesdon Town tonight as The Lillywhites took on Kentish Town in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. It was well worth all the hard work put in by the ground staff and volunteers to get the pitch playable as Hoddy won 4-2.   Pictures courtesy of twitter.com/HoddesdonTownFC

Another game to beat the freeze was at Rush Green where Grays Athletic played AFC Sudbury in the Ryman Division One (North). The visitors will have a very long and cold journey back to Suffolk as they lost 6-0. Ex Towner Jeff Hammond had a night to remember as he hit the back of the net five times with Craig Pope getting the other goal.

There were two games in the Ryman Premier Division as Canvey Island were beaten at home (0-1) by Bury Town and Cray Wanderers lost at home to Bognor Regis Town by a scoreline of 1-3. Cray, who are Enfield Town's opponents on Saturday, have now lost five league games in a row.

Wealdstone were also in action in the Ryman League Cup Fourth Round. They lost 1-0 at Division One (South) Dulwich Hamlet. The Stones fielded a strong side with only four changes made to their starting XI from Saturday's game with Bognor Regis Town. Three of the four changes (Asen Valchev, Nathan Webb and Esmond James) came on as substitutes in that game with the fourth change being striker Richard Jolly.
