Now that the dust has settled on the celebrations around Enfield Town's promotion to the Premier Division of the Ryman League the cold end thought it would be good to thanks all at the club whom have made this season a success. Not just Steve Newing, his coaching team and the playing squad who were absolute quality but the numerous people behind the scenes who put in hours of hard graft without reward just for the good of the club. Well done to everyone involved!
In 1999 when the bulldozers moved in on Southbury Road and the old club were moved around the grounds - football in Enfield was on its knees. Some rival fans questioned Enfield FC supporter's loyalty in 2001, when a large percentage of fans broke away to become the first fan's formed club, but at the time this was seen as the only way to get the beautiful game back into the borough of Enfield.
Just over a decade later with two promotions won football in Enfield is back in the Ryman Premier for the 2012/13 season in a redeveloped Queen Elizabeth Stadium which up until two/three years ago had stood partially derelict and vandalised not being used by anyone. Now it is a superb community facility where everyone is welcome with the club having a succesful ladies section and numerous youth teams.
The 'OUR CLUB, OUR COMMUNITY' words on the front of the club programme really sum up what Enfield Town is all about.
