THIRD TIME LUCKY AGAINST THAMESMEAD TOWN ON SATURDAY??

Since Thamesmead Town were promoted to Step 4 in 2008/09 Enfield Town have played them on eight occasions winning four, drawing one and losing three. This season Enfield Town have travelled South of the River to Bayliss Avenue twice, in the League and the FA Trophy and each time came back on the wrong end of 2-0 defeats. Hopefully, for the Town supporters, it'll be third time lucky this Saturday.

The Mead were involved in a seven goal thriller on Tuesday in South London when with the score at 3-3 going into injury time against Waltham Forest, Joseph Afusi capitalised on a defensive mix-up by The Stags to score to make it 4-3. Bad luck on Waltham Forest who for the second time in less than a month scored three goals away from home and lost the game!! The other scorers on the night for The Mead were Chuck Duru and Theo Fairweather-Johnson (2). The Mead played most of the second half with only 10 men after Jack Hopkins was sent off for handling the ball on the line.

Their form is topsy turvy to say the least as their results in their last eight league game reads WDWWLLWDDLW. Away from home in the league they have had some good results (W 1-2 at Grays Athletic, W 0-2 at AFC Sudbury) so will be certainly no push overs. With the two matches the Town have already played against them Steve Newing and the team will already be aware of this and will be well prepared for the game on Saturday.

On a where are they now question the Mead's up front duo of Andy Constable and Rikki Cable who scored 30+ goals in the 2009/10 season are now representing Kent Hurlimann Football League side Erith and Belvedere. The Deres are currently third in the table behind front runner's Canterbury City and Herne Bay.

No doubt where the game of the day is - Grays Athletic's trip to Leiston in a 4th v 3rd clash. Top of the table Needham travel to struggling Ware who now look set to be cut adrift at the bottom of the table with Ilford.

Some of the games could be affected by the weather conditions forecast for the next few days with a warning for snow in London and The South East.
The Cold End at Goldsdown Road - December 2010 - Could snow be on the way this weekend??
