WEEKEND REVIEW

The Cold End was busy soaking up the October "Summer" Sunshine on the sizzling South Coast over the weekend so missed out on Enfield Town's 1-0 victory over Romford on Saturday. The win moves Town up to fifth place in the Ryman Division One (North) just two points behind 2nd placed Waltham Forest.

Elsewhere in the Ryman North, Great Wakering Rovers boss Ryan Wilkinson has resigned in the wake of their 7-0 defeat at Waltham Abbey. It was Rover's second 7-0 loss of the season after Needham Market recorded the same score on Tuesday 13th September.

On Sunday afternoon current league leader's Grays Athletic dropped only their 3rd and 4th points of the season when Cheshunt frustrated manager of the month Hakan Hayrettin's side in a 0-0 draw at Rookery Hill.

In the FA Cup it was a great day for Redbridge and AFC Sudbury who both made it through to the 3rd Qualifying Round. The Motormen's victory over Ryman Premier Bury Town stands out with AFC winning 0-2 at Ryman South Mertsham. Both Thamesmead Town and Maldon & Tiptree made it into the hat with draws at Margate and Whitehawk. Needham Market lost 0-3 at home to Blue Square North Nuneaton Town and Waltham Forest lost 0-3 to Blue Square South Eastbourne Borough yesterday afternoon.

Southend Manor continue to represent the Essex Senior League with a magnificent 4-2 victory over Chertsey Town with only Dunstable Town winning through for the Spartan South Midlands League. The Bedfordshire side recorded an impressive win over Evo-Stik Southern Side Chesham United. Oxhey Jets and Hatfield Town lost out to Hendon and Leighton Town.

The draw has been made and is as follows for local sides (those who play in the Ryman North, SSML and ESL -

Redbridge v Dunstable Town
Eastbourne Borough v AFC Sudbury
Whitehawk or Maldon and Tiptree v Hendon
Margate or Thamesmead Town v Bromley
Southend Manor v Leighton Town

A win for Southend Manor against Leighton Town would see them one step away from a possible game against Southend United!!!

A shout also goes out to Hanworth Villa and Hartley Wintney who represent the Combined Counites League in the 3rd Qualifying Round. Hanworth beat Ryman Premier Aveley and Wintney beat Bideford of the Evo Stik South and West Division. Villa travel to Slough Town whilst Wintney will visit the winners of the Basingstoke Town v Frome Town replay. With roughly ten miles separating Wintney's Memorial Playing Fields home and Stoke's Camrose ground it'll be an exciting local derby if the Blue Square South side get through.
