WINS FOR AFC SUDBURY & NEEDHAM MARKET
Tuesday evening saw four Ryman Division One (North) sides in pre-season action. At Burroughs Park Great Wakering Rovers hosted local League Two side Southend United. The Shrimpers ran out 0-5 winners thanks to a hat-trick from Rohan Ricketts with Ryan Leonard and Harry Crawford also on target. Ricketts, the well travelled ex Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur forward is currently on trial with the Roots Hall club having last played for SV Wilhelmshaven in the German Regionalliga Nord division last season.
Soham Town Rangers started their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 defeat at United Counties League Premier Division Holbeach United. United were 2-0 at the break with Denny Escorcio curling a 25 yard effort with around 20 minutes left for Rangers.
A goal in each half gave AFC Sudbury a 0-2 win over Long Melford. The goal-scorers were Ryan Henshaw and Robbie Martin with a penalty kick.
Finally Needham Market travelled to Eastern Counties League Division One side Stowmarket Town. The final score was 0-1 with Market's winner coming on 12 minutes through new signing Deaken Napier. The midfielder signed from Soham Town Rangers during the summer.
