As well as tipping it down at various stages during the game it also rained goals at Enfield Town's first pre-season friendly against Broxbourne Borough last night.
Steve Newing fielded mostly trialists during the match with Jon Moore, Aaron Cato and Izci Eren the only player's who had featured last season. Volkan Calcalioglu was also on the bench for Town with Ex Enfield FC player Lee Allen appearing in midfield.
Town raced into a 0-3 lead thanks to goals from Moore, Jamie O'Donoghue (who scored a brace) and Aaron Cato. Cato's goal came after a nice piece of skill in the box with O'Donoghue's second a volley from outside of the box right at the end of the game (which unfortunately caught me out on camera duties!!!). O'Donoghue has previously played for AFC Hayes, St Albans City, Wingate & Finchley, Brimsdown Rovers and Yeading.
Borough came back into the game with ex Towner Bradley Drisdale a constant thorn in the side of Town's defence using his pace and skill on the right wing along with forward Tony Cookie who also put in a good performance for the home side.
The score's were level at half time with Borough's third goal a great finish following a cross from Drisdale (see the video for that one)
Borough were the stronger side in the second half with a number of changes made by both sides. The final score was 6-4.
Match highlights are below included eight of the ten goals scored -
