Last time we looked at the FA Vase betting market on skybet.com the cold end marked your card with 10/1 St Neots Town looking a good gamble. It's no surprise to see that the United Counties League big spenders have been brought in to 4/1 joint favourites alongside Spenymoor Town. Of the top seven in the betting on 29th October two have been knocked out in the previous round with Tipton Town and Chalfont St Peter suffering shock results against Heath Hayes and Rye United respectively.
The cold end stuck with tradition at being a rubbish tipster as Chertsey Town who were flagged as a good 50/1 outside bet went out in a shock home defeat to Moneyfields who are now 66/1 to win the competition. The other outside gamble was the winner of the Leiston v Royston Town match which the ECL side won after a replay. They have been shortened to 33/1 from 40/1 after their victory.
The current top 10 in the market is -
St Neots Town 4/1
Spenymoor Town 4/1
Whitley Bay 10/1
Kings Lynn Town 12/1
Gresley 16/1
Shildon 20/1
Dunston UTS 25/1
Coalville 25/1
Poole Town 25/1
Scarborough Athletic 25/1
The highest rated Spartan South Midlands League side are Dunstable Town and Tring Athletic at 50/1 with Witham Town the best ranked Essex Senior League side at 40/1.
St Neots Town travel to Epsom and Ewell in the next round scheduled to be played on the weekend of the 4th December. Epsom are mid table in the Combined Counties league so The Saints should comfortably qualify for the fourth round. Spenymoor Town are also on the road to face Scarborough Athletic who are 25/1 for the competition. The match which sees the Seadogs in 13th in the Northern Counties East League clash with Town who are currently in 2nd place in the Northern League. Scarborough have already beaten Seaham Red Star (away 3-0), Crook Town (home 3-2), landlords Bridlington Town (2-2, 3-1 after replay) and Armthorpe Welfare (2-2, 3-2 after replay). The average crowd in the three home Vase games Athletic have played is 568 so the third round game should attract a good attendance.
Two other games which are bound to attract good crowds are holder's Whitley Bay facing AFC Liverpool and Kings Lynn Town's trip to South London to face Beckenham Town. Beckenham are currently sitting in 3rd place of the Kent Football League face the newly re-formed United Counties Side who are also 3rd in their league in what is a really good game in prospect.
