RYMAN PREMIER DIVSION - THE SEASON SO FAR??

With Enfield Town travelling to face Ryman Premier Tonbridge Angels next weekend in the FA Trophy the cold end thought it would be good if we took a look at how the Premier Division stands and how the season has been going so far.

Here are the current standings -

Town's opponents showed there are bang on form of late by winning 0-3 at Aveley on Saturday. This was only the third time in twelve games that the Millers who are usually quite strong in defence have let in three goals. The victory was the Angels sixth win on the trot in league and cup games. Prior to the Trophy game they travel to Gander Green Lane on Tuesday to face current 3rd placed Sutton United in what is an important league fixture. United have only lost once so far against table toppers Kingstonian (1-0 away on the 4th October) but if they win their game in hand they will go top by two points. Paul Doswell's 15/8 Championship favourites could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Cray Wanderers on Saturday.

Ryman Divison One (North) champions Lowestoft Town have, as everyone who saw them play last season thought, taken to Premier Division life with ease. Currently in second place the Trawlerboys have only lost twice in the league so far against Carshalton Athletic on the opening day of the season and away at FA Cup Heroes Harrow Borough in a midweek 2-0 defeat on the 7th of September.

Kingstonian have also lost only two games somewhat surprisingly at Folkestone Invicta (1-0) and at home to Maidstone United (0-1) on the 7th and 18th of September.

Fourth placed Hendon deserve a mention for the fantastic job Gary McCann is doing as Manager. The ex Enfield FC goalkeeper recently had his 500th game for Hendon as player and manager which is a tremendous achievement bearing in mind he has been in charge of the Dons throughout the troubled time when they lost their Claremont Road ground and moved to share at Vale Farm with Wembley. All his hard work and persistence now seems to be paying off as ably assisted by another Ryman League legend in Freddie Hyatt they are another club with only two league defeats to date away at Tooting and Mitcham and at home to Kingstonian. Highlights of their FA Cup tie with the Metropolitan Police can be found on THEFA.COM website. Town are due to face Hendon in the Middlesex Senior Cup at Vale Farm in a match scheduled for the 16th of November.

There are just ten points which separate Kingstonian and thirteenth place Margate at present so any number of teams can go on a run and make a move up the table.

At the opposite end of the table are Horsham, Maidstone United, Croydon Athletic and Wealdstone. Gordon Bartlett's team finished in sixth place last season agonisingly missing out on the play-offs by only three points. They are now 50/1 outsiders for the title having won only two of their eleven league games so far. They face Kingstonian at Grosvenor Vale tonight.

Billericay Town are the cold end's outsider each way tip currently at 50/1 with skybet.com They are only eight points back from Kingstonian which will increase to eleven should the current top team win their game in hand. However, Billericay have a strong home record of 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat (against Lowestoft Town) and away have lost two and drawn four. The two loses have come at the hands of Sutton United (narrowly 1-0) and Kingstonian (2-4). If (a big if??) two of those four draws would of been wins it would put them up from 9th into 4th position. They are 11/10 to beat Cray Wanderers on Tuesday night which could be a good bet??
