WINGATE AND FINCHLEY ANNOUNCE NEW SIGNINGS

Dave Norman has strengthened his already strong looking W&F squad for the 2010/11 season. The blue's website (link to the left hand side) reports that all of last season's players have committed to the club as well as announcing the signings of Sam Sloma, James Bent, Joe O'Brien and Josh Cooper.

Sloma played at The Harry Abrahams stadium from 2002 to 2006 before moving on to represent Dagenham and Redbridge and Woking amongst others. He helped the Daggers win promotion from the Conference and actually scored their first goal in the Football League. He can play in defence or midfield and regularly hits the back of the net. He has also played for Aylesbury United, Wealdstone, Thurrock, Grays Athletic, Hampton and Richmond Borough and Chelmsford City. He started his career as a youth with Wimbledon.

Bent was captain of Ryman Premier Hendon last season and is also an experienced midfielder who scores on a regular basis.

O'Brien returns to W&F for a second spell having played over 100+ times for the club. Cooper is currently injured but should be ready for action by the end of August.

Centre forward Lewis Jones may also sign for W&F. Jones, 20 years old, scored many goals last season for Old Parmiterians in the Amateur Football Combination Premier Division. Norman has knowledge of the A.F.C having managed Old Aloysians prior to joining W&F.

With a record of only one league defeat in 26 league games (not including Town's brilliant play off victory) played in 2010 and the above impressive signings Wingate are bound to start as one of the favourites for the title when the season begins in August.
