BEAT THE SWANS TO PAVE WAY TO THE MIDDLESEX SENIOR CUP FINAL

Town face a tough game when they entertain 4th placed Blue Square South Staines Town tomorrow night in the Middlesex Senior Cup Semi-Final at Goldsdown Road. With important league games against Brentwood Town, Concord Rangers and Cheshunt coming up Steve and Del have said they will use the game to let some of the squad players have a run out but it is still a competition they would like to win.

The Swans are involved in a play-off race of their own riding high in the Blue Square South division with a chance of promotion to the Blue Square Premier a prize. The cold end assumes manager Steve Cordery and the Staines Massive supporter's group will be eyeing this more than a place in the Middlesex Senior Cup Final.

Staines Town have beaten Hayes & Yeading (1-4 away) and Bedfont Green (0-1 away) to qualify for this semi-final.

Compare the starting XI's in their game versus Woking on Saturday and the 2nd round tie against Hayes and Yeading it was only Dean Thomas and Gareth Risbridger (ex Aylesbury United) who were present in both starting teams so it appears Staines Town also use the Middlesex Senior Cup competition to use squad, fringe and youth players.

Sierra-Leone International Michael Kamara, understudy goal keeper James Courtnage and Elliott Onochie started agianst H&Y and were on the bench versus Woking. Kamara is only 20 years old but has already played for an impressive number of club's with Woking, Crystal Palace, AFC Wimbledon, St Albans City, Welling United and Fisher Athletic amongst teams he has represented. Onochie is well known by Ryman League fans having played for Tooting and Mitcham, Croydon Athletic, Kingstonian, Harrow Borough and Boreham Wood.

Staines Town will still put out a very strong side tomorrow night as the final is due to be played at their Wheatsheaf Park ground. It'll be a chance for Steve and Del's squad player's to stake a claim to a first team spot and possibly gain the accolade of shooting us towards cup final glory. It certainly would be nice to make the final and have a trip to the New Wheatsheaf Park on Easter Bank Holiday.

In the other semi-final Northwood travel a short 9 mile trip to Honeycroft to face Zamaretto S&W league side Uxbridge. The Reds are currently 14th in their division and seem to be very unlucky in being right on the border of the Ryman League/Zamaretto S&W/Zamaretto Midland catchment area. Whereas they face long trips to Circencester Town, Bridgewater Town, Paulton Rovers, Frome Town and Mangotsfield Town amongst others their local Middlesex rivals have the easier trips in Ryman country.

The midweek league fixture list is full to the brim, as it will be with all the postponements, from now until the end of the season.

Brentwood Town face travelling to Lowestoft Town on Tuesday which will mean getting back home in the early hours of Wednesday morning only to face a trip to Goldsdown Road on Thursday night. There are two local derby matches on Tuesday night when Leyton (still going for their first win at home) take on Redbridge and Potters Bar Town (still trying to break home hodoo) face Cheshunt.
