It's all getting very exciting in the race for the play-off places in the Ryman Division One North with Enfield Town right up in the mix with a chance of glory. Lowestoft Town are head and shoulders above all of the league so unless the wheels spectaculary come off up in Suffolk their are now at least 8 clubs vying for four play-off places. Ninth placed VCD Athletic's victory at GWR on Saturday puts them on 39 points off 27 games, it is not beyond possibilty that the Kent club and possibly tenth placed Tilbury could still have a say in the shake-up.

Concord Rangers, after a blip of form, have been on fire of late and have made some impressive signings in Danny Glozier from Brentwood, Leon Fisher from Wingate and Finchley with Joao Carlos ex of Aveley joining from Dartford. Glozier is one of the best left-backs in the league and is a quality dead-ball player/penalty specialist. He was on target twice for his new team on Saturday. I think these three players added to the already quality squad at Thames Road will ensure them of a play-off place. So, this leaves 7 clubs vying for 3 places. Heybridge Swifts have already lost 12 games which maybe their downfall in reaching the top 5 so it may only be 6 clubs going for 3 places. Nothing is ever certain though and with games coming thick and fast due to the postponements over the cold snap anything can happen???

Wingate and Finchley, after their victory over Heybridge Swifts on Saturday, have a run of games versus club's in the bottom half of the table playing Cheshunt, Ware, Waltham Forest, Potters Bar Town, Maldon Town and Brentwood Town so may be the team who push into the top 5 from below.

In 08/09 and 07/08 the fifth placed club had 79 points (games won 23), In 06/07 the fifth placed club got 71 points (games won 19). I think this year with club's taking points off each other it'll be somewhere between 71 to 79 pts. If we look at the worst case scenario of 79 points to get into the play-offs Town will need to 30 points off their remaining 15 games. Town need to improve their record against Top 9 teams which is only 2 victories in 10 games (Concord Rangers H and Thamesmead Town A) starting with the forthcoming Saturday fixture at Home to Northwood after our midweek clash with Brentwood Town. Steve & Del will know what needs to be done and I'm sure we'll be up in the top 5 when it counts.

UP THE TOWN !!!
