HAREFIELD DEFEATED AS TOWN PROGRESS IN THE MIDDLESEX SENIOR CUP

Town beat SSMFL side Harefield United tonight to move forward into the next round of the Middlesex Senior Cup. The final score being 2-0 thanks to a Fabio Valenti goal in the first half and a Liam Hope penalty in the second half. The Director reports Town dominated most of the match in a confident and routine looking victory.

In the other results a re-arranged league fixture which escaped me when looking at the list yesterday took place between East Thurrock United and Heybridge Swifts in which John Coventry's side got back to winning ways in some style scoring 4 goals to Swifts none.

Enfield's opponents on Saturday Maldon Town were beaten 3-0 at home by Lowestoft Town in the Championship Manager Cup.

In the Essex Senior Cup Harlow Town lost out very narrowly to Dagenham & Redbridge by 2-3 with the league side's winner coming just two minutes for the end of normal time. Ex Wealdstone midfielder Graeme Montgomery scored the winner and also got one of the other goals for the Daggers. Another ex non-league player in former Fisher Athletic and Thurrock striker Wesley Thomas scored Dagenham's other goal. Teenager Ola Akinnawo scored a brace for the Hawks in front of a crowd of 200 at Barrows Farm. Marvin Samuels who has been busy bringing some new players in the fight agianst relegation will be encouraged by this performance.

In the other Essex Senior Cup game involving a Ryman North side Redbridge lost 1-3 to strong Colchester United side, The game was switched to The U's Weston Homes Stadium and played in front of a crowd of 103 people. Included in the U's side was goalkeeper Mark Cousins who spent some time on loan with Enfield Town a few years back; Ex Leicester City, Hearts and Aberdeen defender Alan Maybury; Ex Leeds United, Coventry City and Leicester City player Matt Heath; Danny Batth who is currently on loan from Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers and Joel Thomas who has played with Hamilton Academicals in Scotland.

Ware were knocked out of the Hertfordshire Senior Cup by local rivals St Margaretsbury by a scoreline of 1-0. Ware had several first teamers missing (six of the players who followed Tony Faulkner from Broxbourne Borough are cup tied) and due to an injury to usual stopper Harry Ricketts Michael Toner played in between the sticks. Ware included new signings Danny Buglione and ex Towner Max Mitchell. Mitchell has been signed on a dual registration with Cambridge City, Buglione is the son of Assistant Manger Martin and has played for Canvey Island reserve team this season. The Hero for the home side was Joe Rudkin.

Result of the night goes to Northwood who won 1-0 at BSS Hampton and Richmond Borough in front of 69 people.
