It all points to a Town victory on Saturday...

Of the eight games ETFC have played on the opening day of the season three have been away from home and five have been at Goldsdown Road.

The three away games have all been played in Essex and Town have a 100% win record. The records read played 3 won 3 GF 10 GA 4 PTS 9. In 01/02 Town made their debut with national coverage with a 3-2 win at Basildon United. The following season Town made a visit to Brentwood and won 3-0 thanks to Graeme Hall, Danny Clarke and Dave Allen.

I think most supporters would take that result on Saturday but with things changing at Brentwood since then I think it'll be slightly more difficult. In 07/08 Town beat Witham Town 4-2 at The Spicer Macoll Stadium on the opening day.

Town are therefore unbeaten in Essex on the first day of the season for our entire history. Lets hope we keep it going on Saturday!!

***I won't mention our home record on the opening day which reads P 5 W 1 D 1 L 3 GF 7 GA 10 PTS 4, the most notable being a 4-1 disaster defeat to the hands of Basildon United at the start of 03/04***

More bad news for Chester City

Chester City's future is still in the balance with tomorrow's home game against Gateshead postponed. Link below from the BBC website expands on the current situation -

Whatever has happened with the financial running of the club it's not the supporter's fault and all fans around the country will feel for the loyal followers of CCFC.

Midweek Betting

The Cold End hasn't got a very good record on football betting at present. Here's hoping the midweek games can bring some luck with a nice non-league treble as follows:

Stevenage Boro to win at Hayes & Yeading EVENS
AFC Wimbledon to win at Eastbourne Boro 6/4
Braintree to beat Lewes at home 11/10

£1 pays £10.50
