The New Saints making history qualifying for The Europa Conference League group stages along with Wrexham making a great start to their League One season has made headlines for Welsh football in recent weeks.
A crowd of 13,322 saw The Red Dragons recent 3-0 home win over Reading at The Racecourse Ground which compared to the 4,533 attendance in August 2019 in The National League against Barnet shows how far the club have come since the actor's Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over ownership in November 2020.
Many people won't have any knowledge a Welsh club who competed in the Europa League as recently as the 2018/19 season making a very welcome come back for the 2024/25 campaign.
They had finished in 7th place of the Cymru North Division in 22/23 season but withdrew from football ahead of the 23/24 campaign after financial problems lead to players and management leaving along with a transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
Happily with a new manager (Steve Birch) at The Helm CEFN DRUIDS are back for the 24/25 season playing in the North East Wales Championship which sits at Step Five of the Welsh Football Pyramid.
So far they have played two games which have been both away from home. A 2-2 draw at Bellevue and a 6-1 defeat at Rhydymwyn.
Tomorrow they travel to Broughton United who are currently top of the table having won five of their six league games so far and have scored a huge amount of 39 goals which is mainly down to a 15-0 victory over Deeside Dragons!
It's good to see such a historic name, a club who have won the Welsh Cup 8 times and competed in 14 finals, back in football.
