THE MONDAY LOCAL NON-LEAGUE ROUND UP

It's been a difficult last few seasons for Desborough Town who were relegated from the Step Five United Counites Premier South to the Step Six Spartan South Midlands Division One at the end of the 23/24 campaign.

Happily 'Ar Tarn' have made an amazing start to the 24/25 season with three wins from three league games. A 5-1 home win over Leighton Town Reserves on the opening day of the season has been followed by a 1-6 win at London Colney and a 6-1 home win over Rushden & Higham United on Saturday.

Former MK Gallacticos, Buckingham Athletic and Wellingborough Whitworth striker Jeremiah Adams has scored 6 in those 3 games and Ian Blaikie 5 in 2 games as he missed the trip to London Colney.

Neal Healey's team travel to Buckingham FC on Tuesday before another away day next weekend at Letchworth GC Eagles.

It was a great start to the 24/25 Pitching In Isthmian League North Division for last season's play-off semi-finalist's Felixstowe & Walton United who won 6-1 at home to newly promoted Newmarket Town. Charlie Warren, who attracted interest from club's higher up the pyramid over the summer, netted a hat-trick for The Seasiders. The youngster who can play in midfield or as a froward came through the Needham Market academy and is well on the way to beating his 12 goal total of last season after only one game. He is certainly a name to look out for in the future!

Stuart Broadley's team have a massive Emirates FA Cup game next weekend as they travel to face Suffolk rival's Bury Town who also lost in the North Division play-off semi-finals last season and like The Seasiders are amongst the favourites for the title this season!

The Blues won 0-3 at Concord Rangers in their opening day fixture with Cemal Ramadan netting two of the goals. A big crowd is expected at Ram Meadow - 1,285 saw the 3-3 league draw back on Saturday 30th March.

The goal scoring machine that is Morrison Hashi made a very impressive start to his Aylesbury United career scoring a hat-trick for The Ducks in their 0-3 victory at Biggleswade FC. The Japanese striker started his career in England with London Samurai Rovers in the Combined Counites League Division One in the 21/22 and 22/23 season scoring 83 goals in 53 games which saw Southern Premier South side Basingstoke Town sign him for the 23/24 season where he scored 1 goal in 12 league and cup games. He moved back to LSR where he scored 24 in 32 games. The Duck's loyal fans most certainly have a new hero to cheer on in Hashi! They host newly promoted Leverstock Green on Tuesday evening who lost 1-3 at home to Welwyn Garden City at the weekend.

There were some stand out results on the opening day of the Isthmian Premier Division - Don't worry Potters Bar Town fans I'm not going to mention your game!

Instead I think the 3-2 win for Wingate and Finchley against Dulwich Hamlet is one of the best results. The North London side lost a good number of last season's play-off team which did so well and had only Billy Cracknell (31 games last season), Ben Frempah (47), Luke Deslandes (11) and Rhamar Garrett-Douglas (40) left from last season's squad in their starting XI. Former Maidstone United striker Ogo Obi netted twice only for Luke Wanadio to bring the score back to 2-2 on 84 minutes. Step forward former Colchester United academy player Ryan Lowe to score the winner after coming off the bench in the 89th minute in front of 353 fans. The 20 year old midfielder made 5 appearances on loan for Margate last season.

Making their competitive debuts for Wingate alongside Lowe and Obi were goalkeeper Prince Adegoke (signed from Charlton Athletic Academy), Toby Bryan (Folkstone Invicta), Lonit Talla (Harrow Borough), Arthur Iontton (Haringey Borough), Ayo Tanimowo (Waltham Abbey), Andronicos Georgiou (Royston Town)Evangelos Empochontsif (AFC Rushden & Diamonds), Brian Garzon (Hertford Town) and Destiny Oladipo (Margate).

They travel to Carshalton Athletic tonight who got a decent 1-1 draw at Folkestone Invicta on Saturday. It'll be a decent game at The War Memorial Sports Ground.

There were mixed fortunes for the four teams relegated from the Isthmian Premier division last season. As mentioned Concord Rangers lost at home to Bury Town in the North Division along with Haringey Borough who lost 1-0 at Basildon United. In the South East Division Margate opened their season with a 0-0 home draw against East Grinstead Town. It was happier times for Kingstonian who won 3-0 at home to Uxbridge with all three of their goals being scored in the first half - The K's, under the new management of former Walton & Hersham boss Scott Harris, look set for a decent season I'd say.

FROM FURTHER AFIELD...
Axminster Town started their South West Peninsula Premier East season with a 0-11 defeat at home to Cullompton Rangers on Saturday 3rd August which saw The Tigers lost several members of their first team squad and Manager Justin Faulkner stepping down. The former Portland United Reserves boss had only been appointed in June. Axminster had to forfeit their home games against Bovey Tracey yesterday and have asked the league to postpone their next two fixtures to give them time to appoint a new manager. They had finished in third place in the league last season. I'm sure things will be sorted and brighter times will come at Tiger Way.

Amazingly in the 0-11 win no players scored a hat-trick for Cullompton Rangers with Lewis Hill, Aiden Horne and Billy Spurway getting two goals each along with George Russell, Lloyd White, Lucas White, Zack Williams and Leo Barraball getting goals. They drew 2-2 at Bishops Lydeard on Saturday with Horne getting two more goals.

  1. How you found time to research and write this after the long day in the West Country I'll never know! An excellent read.
