PROMOTION TO STEP FOUR  QUALIFICATION FOR PLAY-OFFS

It was a day of huge news in the Southern Counties East Premier Division yesterday as current table topper's Faversham Town announced the departure of First Team Coach Sammy Moore.

The former Concord Rangers manager made headlines in non-league last November when he swapped the top of Isthmian Premier for the bottom of the Isthmian South-East Division when he moved from Potters Bar Town to The Lillywhites.

The club issued a statement yesterday which stated "Personally and from the board of directors we would like to thank Sammy and his amazing family for all the hard work and effort that has been put into the club over the last 14 months . As a board and with the resources at the disposal for the management team along with the quality of players that have been signed this season, we feel that the combination of recent results together with the clear objectives' of the football club that were set out at the start of the season have not been achieved."

Matt Newman, a summer signing from Folkestone Invicta, has been named as Caretaker Manager whilst the club search for new permanent appointment.

The news comes on the back of a run of two draws and a defeat for Faversham Town. They drew 2-2 away at Glebe and Whitstable Town followed by a 2-4 defeat at home to Deal Town who are now arguably best placed in third place with four games in hand.

Deal have won their last seven league games in a row and have only one defeat in fourteen with all the rest being wins!

With just four points between Faversham Town and Whitstable Town in sixth place it's looking set to be an exciting few months in the race for The Southern Counties East Premier Division title.
