SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE WEEKEND FIXTURES AND PREVIEW - WILL THERE BE A SHOCK IN THE FA CUP GAMES?

EMIRATES FA CUP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND
Barton Rovers v Milton Keynes Irish
Brightlingsea Regent v Sawbridgeworth Town
FC Romania v Needham Market

Just three Spartan South Midlands League clubs remain from the Spartan South Midlands League remain in the Emirate's FA Cup. All have ties against teams higher up the pyramid with FC Romania hosting Southern League Premier Central Division side Needham Market who have made a decent start to their league campaign losing just one of their six games with three wins and two draws. The Marketmen famously reached the First Round Proper last season beating Leiston, Sheringham, Brightlingsea Regent and Maidstone United before losing to League One Burton Albion in front of a crowd of 1,989.

FCR have also made a good start winning three of their four league games with ironically their only defeat being 3-1 at MK Irish. They were knocked out of the FA Vase by Essex Senior League side Buckhurst Hill last weekend but returned to winning ways in midweek with a 5-0 victory over Stansted. Tobi Coker has been in great form netting 9 goals in just 7 games.

Southern League Division One Central Barton Rovers will be very aware of how well Milton Keynes Irish are playing with a 0-9 win at Holmer Green in the FA Vase last weekend followed up by a 5-0 win over Tring Athletic in the league in midweek. Since narrowly losing 1-0 at Real Bedford on the opening day of the season (a game if you look at the highlights you could argue they should of won) the Irish's form reads WWWWWW with 31 goals scored! Mason Spence has netted 9 goals in 7 games!

Rovers, who only stayed up in Step 4 last season thanks to a play-off win over Thetford Town, have drawn their last two league games 2-2.

Sawbo don't have a league win as yet and have saved their form for cup games this season beating Letchworth GC Eagles in the FA Vase along with Saffron Walden Town and Arlesey Town in the FA Cup. Their opponent's Brightlingsea Regent have made a perfect start to their season winning all four of their games including a 5-0 defeat of Spartan Premier Stansted in the last round of the Cup.

PREMIER DIVISION
Aylesbury Vale Dynamos v Arlesey Town
Baldock Town v  Stansted
Biggleswade United v Cockfosters
Crawley Green v Colney Heath
Leverstock Green v Dunstable Town
London Lions v Shefford Town & Campton
St Panteleimon v Potton United
Tring Athletic VS Real Bedford

The game of the day in the Premier Division for me is Biggleswade United v Cockfosters. United are top of the early table with four wins and two draws from their six games played with Fosters in fifth with two wins, two draws and only one defeat. Former Biggleswade Town and Barton Rovers forward Coree Wilson (6 goals) along with Jesus Mendoza (4), previously of Arlesey Town, have been in good form for Biggleswade United.

DIVISION ONE
Burton Park Wanderers v Rushden & Higham United
Long Buckby AFC v Ampthill Town
Moulton v Eaton Socon
Northampton ON Chenecks v Langford
Northampton Sileby Rangers v Letchworth Garden City Eagles
Raunds Town v Cranfield United
Rothwell Corinthians v Royston Town u23
Wellingborough Whitworth v Buckingham
Winslow United v Huntingdon Town

In Division One only Wellingborough Whitworth (5 wins), Northampton ON Chenecks (3 wins 1 draw) and Ampthill Town (2 wins and 3 draws) are left unbeaten.

Lethchworth GC Eagles, Rushden & Higham United and Eaton Socon are still looking for their first league win.

The Lankies perhaps have the best chance of getting three points this week with a local derby game at  Burton Park Wanderers who have 1 win and 3 defeats in their 4 games played - their win came against The Eagles and they lost 8-0 at Winslow United in the FA Vase last weekend.

DIVISION TWO
AFC Welwyn v Caddington
Aston Clinton v Eynesbury United
Milton Keynes College v Codicote
Newport Pagnell Town Development v Bovingdon
Old Bradwell United v Berkhamsted Raiders
Pitstone & Ivinghoe United v New Bradwell St Peter
Stony Stratford Town v Sarratt
The 61 FC (Luton) v Milton Keynes Irish Reserves
Totternhoe v Tring Corinthians AFC

In Division Town AFC Welwyn (4 wins) host Caddington FC who have no wins, one draw and three defeats in their games. They are coached by former Arlesey Town boss Chico Ramos and since their 4-4 draw with Totternhoe on the opening day have lost 0-6, 1-3 and 0-4.

I think one of the games of the day is MK College v Codicote. MK who have won their last three games in a row against The 61 FC (Luton), Aston Clinton and Berkhamsted Raiders. The Cod Army drew on their opening day but have since won 1-3 at Caddington and 2-3 Old Bradwell United. They have been sharing the goals around with all 7 of their goals scored by different players. Vincent Kalvin has scored 6 goals in 6 games for MK College - He scored 13 in 29 games for the club last season.

Mason Davis scored 36 goals in 36 games for MK College last season - He has scored 4 goals in 6 games for Premier Division side Milton Keynes Irish this season.
