It's been a difficult start to the 23/24 season by Haverhill Borough with just one victory in twelve league and cup games played that's included a 10-1 defeat at Stanway Pegasus in the FA Vase and a 3-1 defeat at Suffollk and Ipswich League Premier Division side Haughley United in the Suffolk Senior Cup. Before the big local derby game they have two difficult looking games at home to fifth placed Great Yarmouth Town and another trip to free scoring Stanway Pegasus who are currently second in the table - The Essex side have netted forty-one goals in just ten league games.

Rhys Shulver was appointed as Manager in the summer and this is his first season in senior management.

Ollie Emsden (27 appearances for Rovers last season) moved across to Borough during the summer along with striker Ryan Weaver who scored 14 goals in 39 games for Rovers in 22/23 - He made 6 appearances for Borough early in the season but has since moved back to Rovers netting a hat-trick in their recent 8-0 Suffolk Senior Cup win over Suffolk and Ipswich Premier Division side Sporting 87.

Rovers were relegated from the Premier Division last season and this is the first time they have played in Division One since the 2006/07 season. Their form has been somewhat up and down with some big wins coupled with defeats where they have let in six goals in two occasions.

Ben Cowling took over as Manager in mid August after the departure of player/manager Ryan Gibbs. Cowling is in his second spell win charge at The New Croft having managed Rovers from May 2016 to November 2017. He also made over 300 appearances during his playing career for the club.

Cowling recently left Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Lakenheath where he was join boss alongside Trevor Collins. He had been sole Manager up until midway through last season and took The Heath from the Cambridgeshire County League to Step Five on the non-league ladder as well as winning the Suffolk Senior Cup and League Challenge Cup.

Since Haverhill Borough were form in 2011 as Haverhill Sports Association (they adopted the current name in the summer of 2013) the two clubs have played twice in the league when they were both in the Premier Division during the 17/18 season and once in the FA Cup during the 18/19 season

Friday 3rd November 2017 - Haverhill Rovers 1-0 Haverhill Borough (415)
Friday 29th December 2017 - Haverhill Borough 3-2 Haverhill Rovers (463)
Saturday 11th August 2018 - Haverhill Rovers 2-0 Haverhill Borough (603) - FA CUP

IN HOME LEAGUE GAMES ROVERS HAVE AVERAGED A CROWD OF 114 WITH BOROUGH CURRENTLY AT 63 - THE LOCAL DERBY GAME IS BOUND TO ATTRACT ALOT OF INTEREST LOCALLY  - WILL THRE BE A BIGGER CROWD NEXT FRIDAY EVENING THAN THE 603 PEOPLE THAT SAW THE FA CUP GAME? THE SUFFOLK MARKET TOWN HAS A POPULATION OF AROUND 27,000 - IF JUST 5% OF THOSE PEOPLE TURNED UP IT WOULD BE AN ATTENDANCE OF 1,350!!
