BIG GAME ON SATURDAY - TOUGH START TO THE 23/24 SEASON FOR CORINTHIAN-CASUALS

After relegation from The Pitching In Isthmian Premier last season it's been a difficult start to the 23/24 campaign for Corinthian-Casuals who are now playing in The Isthmian South-Central Division under the new management of former Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, QPR and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andy Gray.

He actually started his senior football career with The Casuals after playing in the academy system of Crystal Palace.

Gray was part of the team which memorably reached the FA Cup First Round Proper in the 83/84 season and lost 4-0 at Bristol City in a replay after a 0-0 draw.

Alan Pardew was also with the club at this time whom Gray would later play at Crystal Palace with and famously reach the FA Cup Final in 1990 - both scored in the semi-final victory over Liverpool at Villa Park. Later in his career he played in the 1997 Scottish Cup Final for Falkirk against Kilmarnock.

Corinthian-Casuals have played three league games so far losing 4-0 at Northwood followed by a 1-4 home defeat to Marlow and a 4-1 away defeat to Chipstead. They did draw 2-2 at home to Uxbridge in the FA Cup Preliminary Round but suffered another 5-1 heavy loss in the replay.

It's an interesting game this weekend as they welcome Metropolitan Police FC to King George's Field who finished in eighth position of the 22/23 Southern League Premier South but took voluntary relegation to Step Four for this season.

It's a much changed Met side with lots of younger players under the new joint  management of Scott Kemp and Suj Khera for the new campaign.

In their league games they lost 0-4 at home to Sutton Common Rovers and then 5-2 at Hartley Wintney before a 1-1 draw at home to Hanworth Villa in their last game. They also exited the FA Cup at the Preliminary Round stage losing 0-2 at home to Step Five side Epsom & Ewell in a replay after a 0--0 draw.

Could it end all square or will The Met or The Casuals get their first win of the season?
