EARLY ODDS FOR THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE

It's very early days in the transfer window with the summer recruitment campaign bound to hot up over the next month or so in non-league's top division. Below are the current title odds offered by williamhill.com who unsurprisingly make last season's play-off losers Chesterfield as the 7/2 favourites.

Oldham Athletic who have made two eye catching signings over the past week are next up at 8/1. Altrincham's player's, supporters and manager's play of the year Josh Lundstram has joined The Latics along with striker Kurt Willoughby who scored 20 league goals for North Division Chester FC last season.

Maidenhead United and Altrincham have the highest odds both rated at 100/1. The Magpies have always been the underdogs since their promotion in 2017 - they have since finished in 12th, 19th, 21st, 13th, 17th and 20th positions.

Since their promotion back to non-league's top table The Robins have finished in 17th, 14th and 17th positions.

The two relegated sides from the football league in Hartlepool United and Rochdale are rated quite highly at 8/1 and 9/1. It's a fact that only Lincoln City (87/88), Darlington (89/90) and Cheltenham Town in 15/16 have returned at the first attempt as Champions since the introduction of automatic promotion/relegation in 1987. Shrewsbury Town (03/04), Carlisle United (04/05), Bristol Rovers (14/15), and Grimsby Town (21/22) have all returned at the first attempt via the play offs.

Who will be the best of the promoted sides - Will it be AFC Fylde, Ebbsfleet United or Kidderminster Harriers all of whom have recent experience at non-league's top table? Or could Oxford City, in their debut season at Step One, cause a few surprises?

As always please gamble responsibly - gamcare.org.uk
