I've not had the time to write about Belarusian Football over the past few weeks - they've been very eventful to say the least!
The huge news that has sent shockwaves through football in Belarus and beyond is that the investigation by The Belarusian Football Federation Committee for Control, Disciplinary & Ethical Affairs into match fixing and unlawful financial incentives has been concluded and as a result -
SHAKHTYOR SOLIGORSK have been docked 30 (THIRTY) points for the 2023 season and 20 (TWENTY) points for the 2024 season as well as being stripped of the Premier League Championship for 2022 - they have also been fined 370,000 Belarusian Rubles.
ENGEGETIK-BGU have been docked 20 (TWENTY) points for the 2023 season and 10 (TEN) for the 2024 season as well as being fined 74,000 Belarusian Rubles. They have also been deprived of all awards received in the 2022 Premier League.
BELSHINA BOBRUISK have been docked 10 (TEN) points for the 2023 season and 5 (FIVE) points for the 2023 season as well as being fined 74,000 rubles.
The result of the 2022 season Shakhtyor Soligorsk and Belshina Bobruisk have been annulled with a 'forfeited defeat' awarded to both clubs.
For the 2022 season there are now no longer Champions or runner's up!
Shakytor and Energetik will no longer represent Belarus in European competition for the 23/24 season. BATE Borisov (3rd) will now play in the Champions League with Dynamo Minsk and Isloch in the Conference League.
Numerous players and officials have also been banned either for life or for a number of years.
Unfortunately this is not the first time Match Fixing has occurred in Belarus. The question is will it be the last?
As a result of the points deductions Shakhtyor are now on -14 at the bottom of the table closely followed by Energetik-BGU on -13 and Belshina Bobruisk on -5. Dynamo Brest are currently in 12th place on 3 points.
