Clapton Community Football Club are top of the Middlesex County League by a gap of five points to Shepherds Bush - they have both played the same amount of games. 

Both clubs have applied for promotion so could be playing at Step Six of the non-league ladder for the 23/24 season. Clapton CFC are likely to play in the Thurlow Nunn First Division South and Shepherds Bush in the Chery Red Records Combined Counties League Division One - there are many games to be played until then though!

Clapton CFC are still playing home games in Walthamstow, E17 but are due to move to The Old Spotted Dog very soon which has a wonderful refurbished clubhouse and bar area. 

The ground was first used for football back in 1888 but had not been in regular use since 2018. It has been brought back up to standard due to the hard work of supporters and volunteers behind the scenes which will be of benefit to the club and local community for years to come. The men's team did play some pre-season friendly games there in the summer and the women's team have been playing there since September. 

The East London club have also recently purchased land and a warehouse building adjacent to the historic ground which include the old dressing room area which will has allowed the planning for full time use of The Old Spotted Dog to get underway.

Shepherds Bush were only formed in 2021 and have already won Division One South/West in the 21/22 season - they currently play home games at the home of the Middlesex FA at Rectory Park in Northolt. 

Saturday 4th February is the biggest game of the season as Clapton travel to Shepherds Bush.

Indian Gymkhana, who finished in 11th last season, are the next best placed team currently in 3rd place.
