THURLOW NUNN FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - BOTTOM SIX UPDATE

Finishing in the bottom three places in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division South put clubs at risk of possible relegation to Step Seven depending on what clubs below them qualify for promotion due to league position and ground grading. The best way to avoid the drop is to finish outside of the potential drop zone. Here we look at the current table and bring you some news of the teams involved.

THURLOW NUNN FIRST DIVSION SOUTH
CURRENT TABLE - BOTTOM SIX ONLY

19. CANNONS WOOD 11 0 1 10 14-33 -19 1 LDLLLL

It's been a very tough start to life at Step Six of the non-league ladder for Cannons Wood after their promotion from the Essex Alliance League Senior Division. The original management team departed the club after only a handful of games were played with reserve team bosses Alex Fairley and Ross Bishop stepping in on an interim basis.

Former Harpenden Town and Welwyn Garden City player Steven Wade took over as Manager in early September with Franco Zabotti recently joining the coaching staff. He counts Manford Way and Atheltic Newham as former clubs.

There has been alot of player movement in and out of the club since Wade took over as he looks to build a squad capable of climbing off the bottom of the table.

Former Isthmian League side's Barkingside and Wivenhoe Town are next in the table with just one league win so far. The East London side were a Step 4 from 2013 to 2016 but were relegated to the Essex Senior League and then to TNL First Division South in 2019. The finished in 11th place last season.

The Dragons were members from 1986 to 2008 and famously played in the Premier Division from 1990 to 1994 where they achieved a top finish of 10th place in the 90/91 season - They finished 5th last season and went down 3-2 to runner's up Buckhurst Hill in the play-off semi-final.

Manager Gary Monti is still in charge of the club and has told me he has lost a few players from last season's squad and had a few injuries as well which has seen the poor run of form for the Essex club.

Above them are Coggeshall United who two wins from eleven games - Former Holland FC boss Paul Phelan has recently been appointed as Manager.

Hackney Wick and NW London follow them on two wins each. I saw NW London play a few weeks ago in their 6-2 win over Sporting Bengal United - they have some very talented players in their squad and I'm sure once they adjust to life at Step 6 having been promoted from the Middlesex County League they will finish comfortably in mid-table.
