Hornchurch have scored an incredible 22 goals in their 8 league games played and aside from their opening day 0-1 defeat to Bognor Regis Town they have scored in each of their league and cup games played. Sam Higgins has netted 7 goals in the league already.
They are closely followed by Potters Bar Town who finished in thirteenth place last season. I think with Sammy Moore now in charge of The Scholars many people would have predicted they would do much better this season, but I don't think anyone would have thought they'd win six of their eight opening league games. Dejon Noel-Willams has been in great form for the Hertfordshire club netting a hat-trick in yesterday's impressive 2-3 win at Folkestone Invicta and two goals in the 3-1 midweek win over Brightlingsea Regent. He is a full International with Grenada.
Bishop's Stortford who were many fan's favourites for the title having finished in runner's up position last season and strengthened their squad are currently in third place. After losing two, drawing two and winning two of their first six games they have rather ominously won their last three games 2-0 with Frankie Merrifield in great form scoring four goals. You will remember last season from February to April they went twelve league games without conceded a game!
North Division Champion's Aveley and South Division Champion's Hastings United have made excellent starts to life back at Step Three with Horsham in fifth place.
In the bottom half of the table there are four clubs with just one victory to their name - Herne Bay, Corinthian-Casuals, Bowers & Pitsea and Kingstonian.
Wingate & Finchley have no wins so far but do have five draws with only three defeats, so all is not lost yet for the North London club - Their next league game is a very tough one though as they travel to Bishop's Stortford next weekend.
Lewes were expected to do well by many fans having finished 7th last season but have had a disappointing and frustrating start to their 22/23 campaign with just two wins in their seven games played so far. They were also defeated 4-0 in the FA Cup 2nd QR replay to South-East Division side Three Bridges in a real shock result.FORTHCOMING FIXTURES
