Southern League Division One (Central) side Welwyn Garden City FC are on the hunt for a new manager after Nicky Ironton announced his resignation after three years in charge at Herns Way. The Citizens finished in fifth place this season but were barred from taking part in the end of the season play offs due to ground grading issues - It was thought they were going to relegated to Step Five but will remain at Step Four for the 2022/23 campaign with the club being given more time to make the necessary improvements to their ground.
The Citizens equalled their best performance in the FA Cup this season going out to Bromsgrove Sporting in the Third Qualifying Round and they also reached the FA Trophy Second Round beating step three side's Carshalton Athletic and Merstham in the competition. In 20/21 they got to the Third Round of the FA Trophy playing Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town at home which in usual times would of attracted a huge crowd but due to the pandemic it was played behind closed doors.
WHO WILL BE IN CHARGE AT HERNS WAY FOR THE 2022/23 SEASON?
