To say it's been a difficult and eventful season for Durham City AFC is a slight under statement. The club has been rooted to the bottom of The EBAC Northern League Division Two and were put on temporary suspension by the league in October until a bond had been lodged.
The Citizens welcomed Washington on the final day of the EBAC Northern League Division Two on Saturday 30th April knowing that a defeat or a draw would mean a whole season without a win. The result was a 1-0 with courtesy of a Brandon Turnball penalty in the 75th minute.
Having finished bottom of Division Two of the EBAC Northern League it's likely that the club will play in The Wearside League First Division for the 22/23 season.
They currently ground share at Willington AFC's Hall Lane which is around a 20 mile round trip from the city - A dispute with the landlord at their home ground at New Ferens Park saw them leave in 2015.
Their average crowd for league matches this season was 48 with a low of 24 versus Jarrow and a high of 87 against their landlord's Willington.
If the former football league side's destination is The Wearside League it's likely they will play Durham Corinthians who were formed in 2018 and play at New Ferens Park which will be a hugely anticipated local derby.
