Tavistock currently top the table in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division with Exmouth Town ten points below them. Mousehole are in third place with games in hand which if they win they will be well involved in the title race.

Both the current top two were promoted in 2019 after finished first and second in the South West Peninsular Premier Division.

Tavistock have only lost three league games so far - There were at Saltash United on the opening day of the season (2-0), at home to Bridgwater United in August (1-2) and at home to Helston Athletic in September (2-3). They are unbeaten in 17 league games!

Mousehole were promoted from the South West Peninsular Premier Division West on their calculated Points Per Game total over the 19/20 and 20/21 curtailed seasons. The Seagulls, as they are nicknamed, ascent through the non-league divisions has been assisted by their sponsorship with The Endorsed Group since 2017. Could the tiny fishing village with a population of just under 700 people see Southern League football being played at their Trungle Parc home within the next few seasons? Like many Cornish clubs if they are promoted the mileage they have to travel will be huge. For example if they were in this season's Southern League Division One South they would travel to AFC Totton (440 mile round trip), Sholing (460) and Evesham United (480). Saying that the trips they have this season haven't been short with aside from local rival's Helston Athletic their closet trips are Millbrook AFC (140) and Saltash United (150).

There were reports of a possible merger between Mousehole AFC and their local rival's Penzance AFC between 2018 but the idea was withdrawn in May 2019. They are currently struggling being second from bottom in the SWP Premier Division East.

All of the current top three teams have never played in the Southern League - Bridgwater Town were members from 1982 to 1984 but folded due to financial problems. The club were reformed and played in the Southern League again from 2007 to 2017. They were renamed Brigwater United in 2021 after a merger with women's team Yeovil United. The Robins are probably considered as outsiders for the title as they are currently 15 points off the top of the table.

The big game coming up on Saturday 12th March comes at Southern Road when the top two clash as Exmouth Town entertain Tavistock. When they met in October they drew 2-2.

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES FOR TOP THREE TEAMS

At the bottom of the table it's been a really difficult season for Bridport. The Dorset side who have been members of the Premier Division since 2011 have won just one league game in their 28 played with 27 defeats and 149 goals conceded. The Bees one victory came at home to fellow struggler's Ashton & Blackwell United on Saturday 28th August.
