Hastings United are top of the Pitching-In Isthmian South-East Division by six points from Cray Valley PM in second place and nine points from third placed Ramsgate. Could Premier Division football be returning to The Pilot Field in 22/23 for the first time since 12/13.
The club have been getting some fantastic crowds this season with an average of 1,086 in league games and top attendance of 2,017 for their New Year's Day game against Lancing.
A indication on how crowds have shot up for The U's is their average in the 13/14 season which was their first after relegation from the Premier Division was 388.
Cray Valley PM have drawn 8 of their 26 games compared to Hastings United 2 drawn games in their 26 which could be the difference come the end of the season.
Unsurprisingly there are the form side of the division with eight wins in their last ten games with just one defeat 2-3 at home to Burgess Hill Town. The Hillians who are currently 8th in the table are in good form too with six wins in ten games and only being five points off the play-off place - saying this they have lost their last two games against Faversham Town (13th) and Chichester City (7th). City are another form side looking at a play-off place with six wins in ten and just two narrow 1-0 defeats to East Grinstead Town (14th) and Haywards Heath Town (5th).
They have two very important home games coming up tomorrow evening at home to 6th placed Herne Bay and then on Saturday second placed Cray Valley PM visit Oaklands Park. The other Tuesday evening game sees Whitehawk (15th) travel to Hythe Town (17th) - The Hawks have recently seen their seventeen year old striker Billie Clark move to Brighton & Hove Albion in a dream move for the youngster as he is also a fan of The Seagulls.
Ashford United were title contenders back at the beginning of December but five defeats to Chichester City, Burgess Hill Town, Haywards Heath Town, Hastings United and Three Bridges now see The Nuts & Bolts ten points off the top of the table in 4th place. Their defeat to Three Bridges on Saturday saw Dan Perry scored 4 goals in a 5-1 victory for the now 12th placed side.
At the bottom of the table Phoenix Sports and Whitstable Town currently occupy the relegation spots with Sevenoaks Town in the play-off spot. Hythe Town are just above them and have dropped down the league places following the loss of the club's main sponsor and the departure of manager Steve Watt along with a number of their experienced players.
The Cannons have lost 8 of their last 10 games with just 1 win being a recent victory at home to Faversham Town.
TOP SCORERS (LEAGUE GAMES ONLY)
Josh Ajayi (Ramsgate) - 18
Marcel Barrington (Cray Valley PM) - 16
Youssuf Bamba (VCD Athletic) - 15
Zak Ansah (Herne Bay) - 13
Nineteen year old Josh Ajayi currently leads the top scoring charts in the league. The former Crystal Palace academy player has recently been on trial with Tottenham Hotspur training with their under 23 side and has had a number of football league scouts looking at him. He is likely to move back up the pyramid sooner rather than later.
