There were some fantastic results in the Second Round of the FA Vase. Locally we saw Shefford Town and Campton of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One entertain Risborough Rangers who are top of the SSMFL Premier Division and unbeaten in league fixtures. The game ended 1-1 in front of a very good crowd of 292 with the home side going through 5-4 on kicks from the penalty mark.

Buckhurst Hill went to Gorleston who are top of the Thurlow Nunn Premier with the First Division South side recorded a glorious 2-3 victory with the winner coming in added time.

Whittlesey Athletic of the Thurlow Nunn First Division North beat Midland League Premier Division side Worcester City 7-6 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw at Feldale Field.

Athletic Newham and Saffron Walden Town will represent the Essex Senior League in the Third Round following 5-3 and 5-1 against Pagham and Cornard United.

North Shields and Rugby Town are the only previous winners involved in the competition. The Robins came through on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw against North Ferriby.

Rugby Town won 1-0 against fellow United Counties League Premier Division South side Hinckley Leicester Road - HLR had won 23 of their 25 games played this season prior to the game with their only results not being wins a 1-1 draw against Hanley Town in the FA Cup followed by a 2-1 defeat in the replay.

Another fantastic result was in the all EBAC Northern League tie as Billingham Synthonia (sixth in Division Two) won 2-1 against West Auckland Town who are currently second in Division One.
